“Perfect hotel for vacation at the seaside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

We were choosing between one of the Port Aventura hotels of 4* and this one of 3*. Finally Casablanca Playa won due to its location, and we have never regretted our choice. On the one hand we were lucky, as at the time we arrived, there were no free rooms in the main building, and we were offered a suite in another building behind the main one. It was our chance! We had a perfect sea view and at the same time we were at some distance from the relatively busy road in front of the main building of the hotel. If you have a chance to choose, ask for room 454, and you will like it! Besides two rooms (bedroom and living room) and both bath and shower in the bathroom, the room has a balcony. No, the BALCONY!!! It surrounds both rooms and the bathroom, and you can enjoy perfect sea views from it all day and night long.
And even if we were offered a room in the main building, the hotel is fine. Breakfasts were ok, at least we were satisfied. The beach is across the road, and it is much more clean than any other beach we saw in Salou, and which is much more important - there were notably less people than at any other beach, so you can choose any place you like to set your belongings and enjoy your time. The port and center of the town is few minutes far. You can also find lots of ice-cream cafes and supermarkets nearby. The railway station is few minutes far from the hotel, and it's better to use train to travel to the nearby places like Cambrils or Tarragona, as it's quicker than traveling there by bus. Anyway there is a bus stop in front of the hotel terrace and to the opposite direction - next to the pharmacy at the corner two minutes walk to the left across the street.

Room Tip: The best suite is 454, and possibly room under it on the third floor and over it on the fifth.

Location is great: in front of the sea, in quite part of Salou, near to Port and main promenade. Room was good enough, but unfortunately was not cleaned well. It was rather dirty. And there were ants in the room on the fifth floor.((. Breakfast was good but repetitive. Lunch was good, a lot of fruits, but it was not always easy to feed children. The pool is very very small and with only 3 sunbeds.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

Stayed there in June 2013. We arrived on the local airport shuttle bus run by Plana buses from Reus airport (€6.95 one way). This turned out to be ideal as the driver dropped us off right in front of the hotel. Casablanca Playa is a decent, 3star hotel. The decor is a bit dated but the rooms are spacious and clean. We chose the sea view room which is well worth paying extra for as the back of the hotel hasn't got much to offer, views wise. Our twin room had flat screen tv (3 English speaking channels, including BBC News and Max Discovery, no movie channels in English), fridge, safe, sofa, balcony with table and two chairs, bathroom with toiletries and hairdryer (although Id suggest to bring your own unless you are willing to spend 20mins trying to get your hair at least semi dry, it wasn't very powerful). We were able to borrow the kettle from the reception, as well as two cups. Breakfast was plentiful and good value, included fried eggs, bacon, various charcuterie, cheese and tomatoes plus fruit, yoghurt, cereals, pastries, juices etc. The hotel does have two small pools at the back of the property however they stay mostly in the shade during the day, this also applies to the sun lounges area so you might want to consider moving to the beach at noon (although sun loungers there are payable extra, €5 for the standard one or €7 if you like to sit in the shade!). The hotel also appears to offer evening meals and snacks throughout the day although I have not tried any other food there, apart from breakfast. This hotel is slightly away from the main, busy area of Salou although you will still find all the facilities available, there are several bars and shops nearby, as well as Spar supermarket (exit the hotel through the back street, turn right and you will see the sign soon enough). Personally, this area was perfect for us as we wanted to stay somewhere reasonably quiet. The hotel's clientele consisted mainly of mature couples plus several families and appears to be popular especially with guests from Spain. The hotel can also book transfers & day trips. Overall it was a great stay and good value for money. If you're looking for somewhere reasonably priced, quiet but still within walking distance of restaurants and shops, I'd suggest this wouldn't be a bad choice.

Room Tip: Choose sea view

We stayed here in March. The rooms were very spacious with balconies and sea views. All spotless. Staff excellent and unobtrusive. Breakfast was exceptional. And price was unbeatable, though it was very out of season. This area is quite a distance from Salou proper and quite quiet.

Room Tip: Ask for balcony facing sea.

Myself and 2 female friends stayed in the Casablanca for 4 nights from 23rd April 2013. I was apprehensive about the sleeping arrangements for 3 mature ladies. i was pleasantly surprised to be given a large room with 3 single beds and with a sea view. The hotel was very clean and friendly, the breakfast good and plentiful. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would certainly go back.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

We had a little bit of a problem checking in ( probably our mistake), but the kind lady at the reception did her best to provide us with a double (not single) room overlooking the sea. We had already parked in the tiny underground car park but were promptly told to move our car (no reservation up front - should we have known that in advance???) and we parked for the four days of our stay in one of the staff car parking bays.
Our room was simple and rather small but adequate. I always miss tea/coffee making facilities in continental hotels... The view over the beach was pleasant - but be warned that the local authorities have a tendency to flatten/clean (?) the beach at some ungodly hour of the morning and I awoke thinking that World War 3 had broken out with heavy artillery machinery lumbering past our balcony.
Breakfast was sufficient if rather repetitive. It was nice to be able to get up late and still eat at 10:30 +.
Don't expect much from the swimming pool - I have seen bigger bath tubs!
What we liked was the proximity to most of the facilities in Salou - I could have a good meal, drink the odd glass of wine or two and stagger back to the hotel via the beach/promenade.
Would we return? If coming this way - probably.

Room Tip: Insist on a room on one of the upper floors overlooking the beach

We stayed at the Casablanca Playa just by chance, over the Easter weekend and thought it was very good. We thought the staff were very nice and helpful, spoke some English. Breakfast good and plentiful, good choice. We managed to get a sea view room which was good, very clean and all you need for a short break.

We have just booked again to go in August.
