“bit basic but good location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

we book as a last minute holiday so didn't pay too much, arrival at the resort was a finger direction from the coach driver of up there, which was no help what so ever, the apt staff were friendly, we had bed and breakfast, the dining room was clean and staff friendly, no maid service or clean towels for week had to ask at reception for towels mid week, no problem to get them, the noise from snoepys was horrendous, from 11 till 6am, young people clearly enjoying themselves, very loud, hard to sleep at all, no other rooms available, location was the best, close to beach and town and the delicious hot chicken man, pool didn't open till 11am, which forced us to the very full of locals beach but the weather was good, very clean town just the lack of sleep.

Room Tip: ask for quiet room away from front of building.

We travelled with 3 kids aged 5 and under. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Apartments were old, but very clean. Towels were changed every day and apartment was cleaned every day. The restaurant staff are well organized and friendly, very helpful too. Great selection of tasty food for a dinner; salads, meet, fish, pasta, chips, sauce, fruits, deserts, cakes, ice cream... The apartments are located 2 min away from the sea and from town centre. We had booked a room far from night club, so the noise was not much. We had a wonderful view of the beach and swimming pool! Kids loved the swimming pool. The pool was cleaned every morning. Hotel is old, but for the price we paid we didn't expect more. It has everything you need.

Low cost holidays indeed. We got what we paid for. The hotel was basic and in need of a good face lift. But the property is suited to the customers they seem to get, young and out for a good time. This is a young persons hotel looking to be close to all the clubs and bars. The location is perfect, right beside the beach and just off the main street. We stayed half board and the food was good every day. Yes it is very noisy at night but this more to do with the residents that the club if you are located high up. The staff were more than helpful and the staff in the restaurant were lovely to the kids at meal times. Is this a family hotel? not really but you will enjoy your stay there, provided you are young and don't mind going home more tired than you arrived!!

pool was great loved our room we had a great view of pool and the beach, staff were very nice pool bar was very cheap and had lovely pizzas and free wifi. my only complaint would be that maybe the pool could open 10 until 8 instead of 11 to 7

Room Tip: higher floors have a great view

We were not expecting luxury as we had paid a very reasonable price for our week long stay. If as a holiday you want days on the beach and nights clubbing this was a great place to stay as it was very central for the beach, bars and clubs. As a family hotel it really wasn't suitable. The room facilities were very basic and the noise from party goers was constant and very loud from about 11pm until 6am. We were very hot as the August sun is strong. Air conditioning was charged at a further €5 per night but having windows open at night was very difficult because if the noise! I was really pleased that we had hired a car and were able to explore the less crowded beaches and towns further along the coast. Be warned though, they charge €10 per night to use the carpark, although there is
free parking in the street, but you may need to drive around a bit to get a space!

We got a 2 bed apartment, but couldn't sleep because of the noise banging till 5 am every night. The hotel moved us when a ''quiet'' room became available, which was better but still drunks were ringing our bell on the first night in this room, guy was drunk didn't know where his apartment was. after that the other 4 nights were quiet but we left the a/c on all night as it was soo hot (august), the a/c costs 5 euro a day extra but we couldn't do without it. I complained to the lifeguard about ''poo'' in the poo, 3 days running, and we had to tell reception who would then tell him and then he would do a half-hearted sweep with a net, also of 2 exits from the pool one was broke and roped off. the biggest plus was the food, which had good choice and was well presented. we had half board, but we even bought lunch there once, which was around 7 euro for adult and 5 for child. Another plus which we discovered with other families we got friends with was the 2 bed apartments. It seems to be difficult to get 2/3 bed apartments with private sleeping areas if you go in a group on a package, and we don't have the money to buy a villa or timeshare so we have to trawl for good deals package-wise. i won't go back but if i did i would stay at almonsa playa again provided they gave us a ''quiet'' room. the rooms are basic but adequate. on the pool facing apartments, (the noisy ones), you don't get a wardrobe in the bedroom with twin beds, which is very strange, we had to put our clothes in the ''living room''. Apart from that room-wise no complaints. the staff (apart from the awkward pool attendant) were very helpful. and for families there is a nearby bar called charlie chaplins where they have a kids club with a nanny in charge so that is a plus if you need to have an hour's peace to watch the cabaret whilst the children play supervised. There is also a lively irish pub next door to chaplins where they have good live music and a lot of families with kids also use. Salou itself is lively and cosmopolitan but very crowded and the beach was so crowded we stopped going.

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room. essential unless you are one of the young clubbers who stay there.
