“Great holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Me and my family of 9 including one child, one toddler and one baby spent a week at the end of September and very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and welcoming with the majority of the staff greeting you with a friendly smile.
The rooms were a good quality and include a fridge, air conditioning and a small supply of toiletries.
The food was excellent, as half board we enjoyed breakfast and evening meal and the variety was excellent with no restrictions on 2nd helpings or 3rd or 4th for that matter.
The provided entertainment was great, especially for the kids, the animation team seemed to work tirelessly being there nearly all day and somehow managing to have as much energy as the kids themselves. There is also free wifi available but you must be in the bar area to use it.
The hotel is situated perfectly with both the beach and Puerta ventura within walking distance and some local shops nearby. There is also a land train that runs about into the late hours if you don't fancy walking.

Just a few things prevent this from being a 5 star review. First of all it would be nice to have a kettle and cups in the rooms, I understand that the hotel has guests from Germany, Russia, France and Spain as well as us Brits but culturally speaking us Brits like to have a cuppa every now and then so perhaps they could be available on demand.
The absence of free drinks available at dinner time annoyed me, the coffee and fruit juice machines provide free drinks at breakfast but at dinner you have to pay inflated prices for drinks. Again us Brits enjoy a cuppa with our meal too. Being at the hotel in September was hot but I can only imagine how thirsty/dehydrated you would be mid season and this seems to be a bit of a dirty and unnecessary money making tactic to me.
As mentioned most of the staff were excellent, the cleaning staff did an excellent job and were the most friendly of all however the serving staff in the dinning room weren't the most friendly, they weren't rude they were just like robots rushing around. At one point my 8 month old nephew's head lolled back in his high chair and was very nearly hit by a member of staff with a trolley, I noticed it but the staff member did not and just carried on oblivious.
As mentioned in other reviews the swimming pool was very dirty, after purchasing a pair of goggles I was able to see the amount of dirt that accumulated on the bottom of the pool, it was there all week and I never saw it cleaned.

All in all a good trip with just a few minor issues stopping it from being perfect.

We arrived on 24th September for a last minute seven day holiday in Salou. Did not know what to expect. Hotel clean staff very friendly. Food was exceptional. Only a short ride on land train from the beach, and Thomson travel reps were excellent. The weather was kind an we had a brilliant holiday. The entertainment staff especially Toni whose catch phrase I professional was just that entertaining. Adults and children alike, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff.
Only bad point as far as we can see was the broken tiles in the lift a little bit dangerous.
Definitely going back again, so much more to see and do highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Had a room overlooking the pool with balcony preferable to rooms at front of hotel overlooking road

We arrived on 24th September for a weeks holiday. First time in Salou, so didn't know what to expect. Bad points...we arrived at about 10.30am to be told we couldn't get our room until 1pm...not good as we were all starving ..and with an Autistic 3 yr old in tow.
Being English , a kettle in the room would have been a bonus.. not asking for free tea or coffee....but the ability to make a brew would be brilliant.

That's the only 2 bad bits...the rest was absolutely brilliant. The food was plentiful and of a high standard ....I recommend the veal. It would be quicker to list what you didn't get rather than what you could get. We went half board , as we would be out all day and didn't require lunch. The evening meal starts at 6.30 pm which was good as you didn't have to rush back for normal tea time.

Hotel is an easy 10 minute walk from both the beach....and porta ventura theme park.

Entertainent is provided in the afternoon....Bingo....followed by full contact water polo in the pool....run by Toni from the animations team....If you go...make sure you ask him what " No Mafia" means as he says it a lot....but he's a top bloke.

In fact all the staff....dining area, check in...cleaning staff...and the 2 Thomson reps Danni and Lucy cant do enough for you...

Will we go to Salou again????..Definitely....will we go to Villa Romana again????? MORE THAN DEFINATELY

Room Tip: Avoid the rear of the hotel if you can...the hotel opposite can get a bit rowdy...not good if you...

Just got back from a week at this hotel, no real complaints, just a few observations, I personally did not find the bed very comfortable, but that might have just been me, the room had a fridge which was good, I would have preferred to have a small kettle in the room with a couple of cups in lieu of the bathroom supplies, which we did not use, not saying the hotel should provide tea and coffee in the rooms, but the appliances to make one should you need would have been nice. Rooms were spotless and maids very helpful always idling and always greeted you, food was good and varied, no issues there. Can't understand the swimming cap business in the spa, have never been asked to wear a swimming cap in any spa pool or sauna in any location I have been in, no one could explain why, just that it was a rule and they can be purchased from reception, the sceptic in me thinks it is just a money making policy in the absence of a proper explanation, needless to say I did not use the spa as purchasing a cap when I have very little hair left anyway seemed a bit pointless. Other than that a good time was had and I would return to this hotel again if the chance arises.

This is our first visit to the Vil-la Romana and look to return again in the future. The hotel was spotless and all the staff were very friendly. The entertainment was very good and catered for all ages. The food was fantastic in it's presentation, it's taste and the sheer amount of choice available. Anyone who could not find something they liked, has to have no taste buds. To sum up this hotel I would say that it is a genuine 4 star hotel with a very friendly atmosphere and well worth a visit.
