“some good some bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

this my first review so bare with me. we stayed here for a 7 night break. on arrival we were greeted with '' hello we have a problem with your room''. basically they had messed up our and other peoples rooms by over booking. HOW??? they said they had a different type room available and would show us it. if we were happy they would give us a fridge, safe and upgrade us to all inclusive. well the room was at the far end of the hotel next to a storage room/fire exit. we entered to cream coloured faded old room. balcony over looked a huge compressor unit that was noisy. we point blank refused the room. so they said we would have the correct room the following day. which meant we had to unpack some gear, then check out by 10am and recheck back in at 1pm the following day. NOT a good start. The next day when we got the correct room we were very happy. the room had adjustable aircon not too loud, balcony, 2 beds, 32'' lcd tv, fantastic bathroom shower and lots of space. everything was clean very clean. towels and bedding were sorted every day. reception staff and bar staff were faultless. gave us tips and advice on where to go etc.

food subject...... hmm well chips. lots of chips. breakfast consisted of chips, oily eggs, cheap hot dog sausages, bacon, processed scrambled egg etc etc. it was ''ok'' we made do. sauces were hit and miss some mornings they were out some mornings no signs any where. toast machine either never toasted or burnt the bread. the juice machines were fine. plates and glasses clean.

tea. ill echo other comments. it was abit mad for tea big ques at 7pm and before and i mean big. the minute doors open people just swarmed in. only 1 chef cooking specials ( the hamburgers were terrible). the food buffet was similar to morning eggs, chips, sausages, pasta, salad etc deserts were jelly, buns and the like. no simple cakes or out though no fudge cake or similar.

on subject of wi-fi... none existent got it few times and it was locked with no one knowing the code for it.

no daytime entertainment, evening entertainment start quite late 9pm-11pm all in spanish.

3 pools of reasonable size and clean. no where near enough sun beds for hotel size of 600+ people.

overall though we WILL/WOULD stay again but only as bed and breakfast as there was some fantastic on the door step cafes which provided fantastic USA type foods or good old fish and chips.

final note on this i think if your room was above entertainment area or near the ally way sleeping before 11.30pm might be hard due to more night life that starts up

Pool area, Good.
Cleaners and room, Excellent.
Reception, poor.
WiFi spasmodic, managed to get online twice in a week.
Those were the good bits.
What can I say about the "Restaraunt"?????????????
Firstly it was in the basement, which was done out to be a dungeon, or so it seemed. Actually there were some nicish murals on the walls. It was just the feeling.
The food(?) was, to give it credit, pretty awful.
We were alloted 1900 to 2015 hrs for the evening meal. We got down at 1905, there were no chips left and very little meat. In the main restaraunt(?) there were 2 dishes of chips, each about 40 cm X 25 cm X 7cm, to serve approx 150 people. You had to wait, on average, 10-15 mins for them to be refilled, this largely due to an apparant severe shortage of staff.
On two nights there was a carvery which was quite good, though you had to queue for several minutes to get served.
The Maitre D seemed totally indifferent to the complaints or what was happening.
I have previously written a review on the California Garden, in which I complained about the food.
Their worst was better than The Oasis` best.
Better the devil you know!

Room Tip: Higher floor, poolside

We went half board and the food was awfull. The evening sitting is only for an hour and 15 mins. There was always a massive queue. When they opened the dining room doors, it was like a free for all. No organisation what so ever. We witnessed a man pusing in with his family and then having a fight with the waiter. Most staff very uhelpfull. The man on the show grill worked alone and only done one person at a time - ridiculous. They ran out of plates, cups ect. The bread was one end of the room, the butter was at the other. Salt and pepper in center only - not on tables.

They turned the air con off on our second day, but lovley and cool in reception ! No lights on any balcony, when asked why, simply told - because they dont work !

Good points, room good, nice and clean - apart from getting hot at night and location. Pool is quite nice, although they do have an all incluisve pool side bar - it was shut ! No day time entertaimnet, apart form darts ! Shop around is my advice, its my third time to Salou, much better Hotels, Great resort, port aventura is good, water park is good, although v expensive, great beach - have a nice hol .

Just came back to the UK from this hotel this evening, and Im going to be as honest as I possibly can about this establishment. Ill start with the rooms, to be fair they were very clean and the maids came around everyday to change the sheets and towels, the room we stayed in had a good sized wardrobe and a small portable tv. But dont get to excited about the tv, unless you like watching Knight Rider and a lot of Hollywood films badly dubbed in Spanish!! Next, ill move on to the staff, I thought the staff of the hotel were very friendly, especially the reception staff who were very helpful. Some people thought that some of the staff were a bit offish, but i personally thought it was largely down to the language barrier. Right then, next is the food and drink. We went all inclusive, so food and drink were free. And the food wasnt to my taste. I only went down 7 times in total out of a possible 20 visits. The rest of the family went down everytime. Our eldest child (7 year old) didnt like the food, so i took him out a couple of evenings. And our youngest (1 years old) didnt have much of a choice, so he was regularly eating just CHIPS!! which isnt good for a growing boy! I found the food was more Spanish based and not catered for us Brits like other Spanish resorts do. (Saying this, Salou is a favourite destination for Spaniards, so you can see why the food was like it was). The drinks at the bar we drank were san miguel(not convinced it was though) poor mans Bailey's and Passoa(which was actually Passoa!) there were other spirits aswell poor mans Gin, poor mans vodka was also available, but they kept the branded drinks for the paying customers. Lastly, the entairtenment. I thought it was good(may it be in Spanish) we had a Live Snake show,Parrot show(Parrots on skateboards etc..)Flamenco dancers,Circus, Karaoke, and it kept all the guests amused. To sum it all up, the price to stay at the hotel is good value for money. It is a 3 star hotel so you get what you pay for. We all came back happy after having a superb week in Salou. And wouldnt rule out using this hotel again. If the food was better I would have given the hotel 4 stars. But thats my personal view, everyones tastes are different. If there's anything else you want to know about the hotel or even Salou itself, feel free to message me.

Room Tip: If you want a view, avoid room 140 (its above the alley where they get deliveries) and room 124( the...

I went away for my 21st birthday with some friends. We went all inclusive which is worth doing. We were dreading going after reading some of the reviews on here however, the staff were friendly and helpful and we ended up dancing the last night away with them until 4am in a bar across the road from the hotel. Everything in the hotel was very clean including rooms, poolside, bar and resturant. Rooms are cleaned everyday with clean towels put out too.
The food was better than expected, it is worth getting up early for breakfast! Pancakes made to order in front of you alongside everything you would expect to see including pastries and cooked breakfasts. Lunchtime consisted of either a buffet style with fresh meats cooked in front of you, spanish dishes, meat, potatoes, salads served downstairs or burgars, hotdogs toasted sandwiches and chips from the bar. For dinner again there was fresh meat cooked in front of you as well as fresh salads and lots of puddings.
The entertainment guys were great fun, daily poolside activites for the young and old, these were different everyday. In the evenings various shows take place outside by the round stage. There was a friendly atmosphere and we got chatting to most families and groups of people.
There are 4 swimming pools and plenty of sunbeds which was great as it didnt feel crampt.
My friends and I have high standards and we would stay here again.

Just returned from Salou,(first time) hotel very good can't fault staff, food, location, beach was very good and well kept. Walkway around the coast was a pleasant way to walk the breakfast and dinner off. Boat trip to Cambrils was nice and an education to watch the trawlermen come in with their catch. The only disappointment was the price of the cocktails, but other than that an excellent holiday, will be coming back. We did walk the coast to the Best Negresco Hotel and this looked excellent.

Room Tip: We stayed on the fourth floor and the rooms were excellent two Queen sized beds and everything you c...

got to the hotel not bad i suppose . firstly got 2nd floor room (248) after a couple of days my wife had some bites on her arms and legs . we looked in the sheets and they was some form of bug in the bed. i tried to get it but it dropped on the floor and dissapeared through a broken skirting board(tiled). they was a dead one which we took to reception , the reception had no idea what it was , i was more concerned that something was biting us through the night and we/you dont know what it is. anyway eventually we got a room for one night which had only a single bed in it. all i could hear all night was some sort of generator starting and stopping throughout the night, so no sleep again. we saw the manager who moved us to another room and offered us free entry to the £5 euro spa as compensation. now back to room 248 well no plugs for bath and sink, bath enamel coming off the bath , wires showing from light, sheets not changed had old blood on them, etc. also prior to going i sent a email asking about dryers nd towels. i had a reply which stated all our rooms have towels and hair dryers in them. guess what no hair dryer and it was 2 days before one came free from reception. the room was a end eoom and the outside area where the bugs came through the wall was a area for storing rubbish.so i assume that they were entering there.
the food was poor and mostly cold and everyone was complaining about it.
bar staff were good and friendly.
tip for this hotel if you go ,ask for the upper floors as these have been renavated and are better than the lower ones,
i must say i was glad to come home , i suppose things would have been different if we were given a better room in the first place . i read the reviews prior to coming and it seemed fine not a top hotel but this was reflected in the price so i expected a medium standard but not what i got.
so be careful and i hope this helps
thanks for reading and have a good holiday,,,,,

Room Tip: choose a upper floor
