3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Just checked in, having been here several times and unfortunately have been put in the worst apartment I have stayed in here. My advice is to ask Not to be in Royal Mirage. The receptionist said it is a nice apartment with stunning views-stunning views of a blank wall from kitchen and main bedroom and of blocks of flats/hotel towers from the balcony - which is tiny with no sunbed and overlooks 'teenagers' pool/play area. Also asked for washing machine as here for 2 weeks with kids - there is a laundrette but why pay for what others have for free. I have read comments that Diamond members get the best apartments - this is Not true (I am a silver member). I would suggest readers ask for an apartment in Royal Gardens (where I have stayed previously).
On the plus side staff are very helpful and friendly - the maid was able to provide what was lacking in apartment straight away and the dodgy electrical cover was immediately repaired. As the song says 'Things can only Get better!'

Room Tip: Ask for Royal Gardens and refurbished (although you may not get it!)

We regret to read about your disappointment with the stay at Sahara Sunset Club. We always try and do our best to fulfil all our guests wishes and offer them best apartments with most picturesque views; yet unfortunately, due to the availability limitations we are not always able to do this. We are very sorry if on this occasion this appears to have been the case, as we assure you that our members satisfaction is our priority. We are happy to read, however that our friendly and helpful team worked towards improving the quality of your experience and we hope these issues have not deterred you from considering Sahara Sunset for your future bookings

It's all been said on here already so I won't repeat it too much. Wonderful place, very pretty. Want to make a special mention that the staff are extremely well trained and friendly...and I wanted to steal the pillows...they were amazingly comfortable!!
Got a superb deal on booking.com for a studio but on arrival we were allocated a huge 2 bed apart which was lovely.
My only slight gripe would be the soundproofing. I could hear my neighbours upstairs every move. I always take earplugs away so it didn't affect me when the woman in high heels seemed to tap dance her way around the apart for 20 mins at 4am (so my friend in the other bedroom told me!).
Would def revisit. Lovely!!!

What a fabulous hotel ! Our apartment(in Royal Mirage) was spotlessly clean and came fully equipped with everything you could possibly need on holiday. A fully fitted kitchen that came with the nice touch, a FREE bottle of water and carton of milk ! The bedroom was nicely appointed with plenty of room,a large flatscreen tv and large wardrobes. The living area was excellent with a sony tv with built in free-view,a large sofa-bed and chairs and a coffee table. The complex is very secure with electronic entry gates and security guards. We didn't use the pools due to us only staying 3 days but they both looked clean and inviting. All this for £30 a night (£15 each person) .....what a bargain !
If there was 1 small gripe it was that i booked 2 single beds but got a double so i slept on the sofa-bed ...no big deal i suppose.
If you are going to Malaga .......BOOK THIS HOTEL ! You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: All rooms that i saw were excellent.

We asked for, and were given, an apartment which got sunshine during the afternoon. This was an older apartment so had no washing machine or dishwasher. It was located on an upper floor in a block which was being refurbished, so there was a bit of noise from power tools and so on during the day. Nothing really annoying though, and it didn't cause us any problems. The receptionist did point this out to us in advance, and said if we were not happy with the apartment they would change it to something more suitable.
All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful, in fact I've stayed in some so called 'luxury' hotels that could learn a thing or two from them about customer service.
We did not use the restaurant facilities, so cannot comment on the quality of the food and service, but other guests we spoke to were very complimentary.
If you book independently or through a travel agent you may be contacted by phone during your stay and be invited to a 'sales presentation' by Diamond Resorts. I leave that decision up to you, but please first read the 'Diamond Resorts' pages on Tripadvisor or type it into Google . Caveat emptor !

Room Tip: Upper floors are best for sunny balconies, but lots of steps.

The appartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The Casbah restaurant served very good food at reasonable prices. The reception staff were efficient and very helpful. If the weather not been so cold and miserable and we had felt like going out more often we might not have noticed the noise of the workers refurbishing the apartment direcly below us but I suppose they have to use the low season to do work like that. Perhaps MEMBERS should be allocated the BEST positioned apartments rather than them being given to people buying hotel space. All in all it was a nice place to stay.

Room Tip: We were guests of Diamond Resort members and so cannot comment of costs.

Just returned from a great holiday made very special by the wonderful staff at Sahara Sunset. We were so looked after! Nothing was a problem, we had such an amazing time. Great location. The apartments are great, well thought out with everything you need, spotlessly clean, big comfy beds, home from home. Washing machine was a real bonus too. The onsite Cazbah is just great, lovely food, very reasonable, great place to meet up. Special thank you to Wendy and Juan Antonio on reception and Gemma in the Cazbah, you really made our holiday. Look forward to coming back here.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

We stayed at the Sahara Sunset in February 2013 having booked through booking.com and received an excellent deal - much cheaper than booking two hotel rooms for our party of five.

We arrived at the complex mid-afternoon (having taken the train from Malaga to Benalmadena and a short taxi ride to the resort) and received a very warm welcome, all the staff we encountered during our stay were friendly and helpful.

We were allocated a two bedroom apartment in a block outside the complex, across the road and outwith the gated area. The apartment was on the ground level (first floor) and was very clean and well equipped, however the outside balcony area was really cold, dark and basically in a car park. The proximity of the next door hotel looming over the balcony area meant that the sun never rose high enough to reach the balcony (and wouldn't even at the height of summer) and even if it did I find it doubtful you'd want to relax outside with the gentle aroma of petrol massaging your sinuses and people walking right past at ground level (you could lean over and touch them).

The apartment is also very noisy, there is a generator, electrical station or bank of aircon units very close by so there is unrelenting bangs, hums and buzzes day and night. The cleaning staff are very friendly and do a great job but also make lots of noise with lots of banging, squeaking of furniture being dragged about and doors being opened and shut echoing throughout the block. This is not the apartment for you if you like your sleep. The toilet cistern would also fill continuously unless you tipped the wee pull-up flusher to just correct angle, more noise!!!!

The complex itself is really lovely, the pool areas really nicely kept with super comfy loungers and the spa (which you get to yourself for a heavenly 45 minutes) is superb. The onsite restaurant was pleasant with great staff and a nice, well priced menu - the BOGOF happy hour drinks great value too.

Overall the complex is great and the accommodation fine for what we paid, however if I was an owner or had paid more than pennies for the apartment I wouldn't have been happy at all. Even when the apartment is refurbished (the whole complex is getting a lovely make-over) the problems with the dark, unpleasant outside area and the noise coming from 'whatever it was' outside will still render this a less than satisfactory accommodation.

Lovely complex - noisy, dark apartment.

Room Tip: Don't accept a room in one the blocks across the road from the complex, out-with the gated area...

Thank you for your review. We regret to read that although you found your apartment comfortable and well equipped, it appears to have also been noisy. We would like to assure you that should you have mentioned this to a member of staff they, availability allowing, would have looked into offering you an alternative accommodation, or try and address the noise issue for you. We hope however that this has not marred your stay as you appear to have been otherwise satisfied with the resort and its facilities and we sincerely hope to see you again in the future.
