“Four Stars is an understatement”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2009

We , My husband and I my three year old daughter and my elderly parents went for a two week holiday to Holiday Village Benalmadena, We returned today and I have to say it was the worst place I have ever stayed. The rooms in the hotel are dirty , The wash hand basin was blocked for three days the day after we arrived despite repeated reports to reception it took three days to get a maintenance man to plunge the basin and clear the blockage. The pull out bed in the lounge of the apartment was stained with urine. The floors inside and on the balcony where washed twice in two weeks and I had to ask the maid to do it the first time. You have to stand in an endless que for your evening meal for all bar areas (which I might add where not the cleanest). The evening entertainment consisted of the same entertainers for the children it was the same ol same ol I was ready to tear my hair out. My parents apartment had water running through the ceiling as you go into the main entrance door and through the bathroom ceiling and light fittings. To sum it up dirty filthy hole won't be going back.....

Having read the reviews before going I was apprehensive but was pleasantly surprised when arrived. I don't believe that the hotel was 4star but I have yet to go anywhere abroad where the stars match what they should be! Overall we had a brilliant time and the kids are keen to go again next year, although we might try one of the other holiday villages. You can't fault the size and space available with this hotel aswell as the activities available throughout the day. Kids clubs are great, the chocolate party was a great hit with my boys!! It does need a lick of paint in places but nothing major.

I heard a lot of guests moaning whilst I was there but to be honest what they were moaning about was not worth the hassle and they should have just relaxed and enjoyed the pools and free drinks (if all inclusive of course). One lady was complaining that her sheets had only been changed twice in the time she was there (one wk) but does she honestly change her bedsheets at home more than twice a wk??!! (plus it states this in the brouchure!).

The biggest downfall for us was the cleanliness of the rooms as the maids literally made the beds and replaced towels (and even that wasn't every day!) and that's it. A dust and mop wouldn't have gone amiss although didn't effect us too much as we literally only slept in our room and was out for the rest of the holiday. Also our boys are 9 and 7 but if I'd had younger children I would have been more annoyed. Rooms are lovely and big with a big balcony which was lovely to relax on. Communal areas were spotless and I did notice a man checking the pool every day.

Queues for bar during day and evening were pretty long but hotel was at full capacity and there were about 5 people behind the counter at one time, so can't really complain! Also our kids were disappointed with the ice cream available on all inclusive (little tubs and that was it!) but apart from that everything else was great. In2Action entertainments team were brilliant with activities for everyone during the day, although the evening entertainment was a bit poor.

Food was good, got a bit tedious by the end as I'm vegiterian and as always choice is limited. Never had to queue long for food even though every table was occupied. Italian and Mexican themed restaurants were a nice break from the buffet and food was very good in them. Daytime snacks were basic but good, did have a long wait, 30 min on average, but wouldn't you wait that long somewhere in Britain and isn't it better, if you want good quality to wait for your food to be cooked fresh to order?

Hotel pool was lovely and cool (but not cold), with two lifeguards present. As mentioned above, hotel was at full capacity but always managed to find not one sunbed but four together whichever time you arrived at pool. Beach club pools were a bit on the chilly side, also found the rubber rings expensive considering the slide was rather poor and the kids couldn't go into the wave pool as it was 165cm deep! So my advise to you would be not to bother with them and if the kids are desparate, just get the one as they'll soon get bored (a ring cost 6 euros for the day).

Myself ,husband ,16 yrold,14 yr old and10 yr old stayed in this holiday village from the31st of May to 7th of june it was supposed to be all inclusive but over 60% of the menu was not on the all inclusive menu. The staff at the beach bar where you went for snacks (only about 10 things on the menu were on the all inclusive list) nedd to learn what manners are !! when food was ordered it tookj up to 30-40 mins to arrive and the portions were tiny!! the only thing that i would recomendis the water park it was briiliant and the lunch menu in the water park was good but will never ever stay in this holiday village again.

This Holiday Village has excellent facilities for a family holiday although it is a bit remote and you have to depend on bus or taxi to go anywhere (luckily we had booked a rental car).
The whole place was very spacious and spotlessly clean including all outdoor areas, pools and beach club. The beach club across the road was excellent although our son (5 years old) preferred to be at the hotel pool where all the activities were taking place everyday. The First Choice / Falcon 'In to Action' entertainment team were excellent every day with their planned activities around the pool for young & old. The Kids Academy was excellent, as was the nightly entertainment. Our son attended the Soccer School which he thoroughly enjoyed.

The apartments were very spacious, loads of storage (pity there were not enough hangers in wardrobe). Air Conditioning in the apartment was great and the balcony was large and a nice area to relax.

We went on a self catering basis and were glad we did as the food at the village left a lot to be desired. We dined at the Mexican and Italian restaurants on our first two nights but were disappointed with both. We picked up our rental car on our 3rd day and found some very good restaurants over the two weeks in Benalmadena Marina and Fuengirola.

The shop in the Holiday Village is expensive and not set up to cater for those on self catering. If you don't have transport then it would be impossible to cater for yourself for breakfast and lunch as you just cannot walk to a supermarket.

Overall the facilities at this Holiday Village are great for families. The First Choice Representatives and Entertainments Teams are very friendly and really go out of their way to help and are especially great at entertaining the children.

Just got back from holiday village, fantastic hotel, rooms large, everything kept really clean including pools. Beach club pools great for kids and jacuzzi beds great for cooling off. Real friendly complex made loads of friends. Downside! food was luke warm except for breakfast. Omelettes cooked fresh yummy but lunch and evening food was poor, not warm strange mix of things my 9 yr old son didnt eat hardly anything not even the nuggets! The queues in the beach club on last 2 days were awful the Spanish arrived and overtook everything. The rings at club were only available 3 days for restricted times.

As for entertainment great in day kids clubs good range of times but were they properly supervised?? def not in 9 - 15 group a friends son said he was choking and could he get a drink and the rep said no! really upset him and no apology, this lad suffers from asthma. At night appalling the worst evening entertainment ive ever seen, stuck in basement with such large pillars half the audience when there was any couldnt see! for the money I expected better and wouldnt go back.
