“A good affordable 4-star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

A pleasant bedroom with a reasonable side-sea view . Pillows a bit uncomfortable and a couple of cushions would have been welcome . In-room fridge was useful . Heating and shower both fine . Nice pictures and spotlessly clean throughout hotel . Staff helpful . Pleasant large lounge . Food quite good but vegetarian choice a bit limited and some of what was suitable would have needed labelling as such . Entertainment not bad , especially for November . A good location . We had some excellent pizzas a few doors away and although we don't normally like Indian food , had an excellent very mild Indian meal in a nearby place called Milan . Also we greatly enjoyed the cable car trip up the mountain .

Stayed for a week mid October, weather was fantastic which always helps. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant staff were very efficient and nothing was too much bother, they do a great job considering the numbers they have to cater for.
We stayed half board, the food was lovely from the salads to the meat which was really tender, sweets great, breakfast was good too, there was a good choice at both meals. Stayed in other hotels Costa del Sol also 4* but the food here was the best.
The hotel is spotless, rooms cleaned daily, fresh towels etc. beds were really comfortable, there is a fridge in the room which is great.
Majority of the other guests were elderly, no complaints there it was quiet at night no one coming in late and making a lot of noise. We are in our 50's so felt young.
There is a supermarket just behind the hotel which is handy.
Before booking I had read other reviews, our balcony door was open most nights and I can't say there was much road noise, or that there was any noise from other rooms.
The hotel is good value, food is great, friendly staff, lovely location what else can I say.
Hopefully will return.

Room Tip: Rooms on the pool side have the sun in the morning the other side sun in the afternoon.

myself and wife returned to this hotel November 2012 last time 6 years ago when it was 4star ,food ok but not as good, room smaller than we remembered but still a good hotel overall with exception of dining room ,got to dining room entrance way 6.55pm stood in queue until 8pm before getting in,after first 30 minutes we were all allocated a number which was then shouted out by the head waiter when a table became available not a very good start to evening meal.I found this unacceptable and therefore would not return and feel it now only warrents 3star.

Room Tip: high room at back quieter

me and my wife stayed at the las arenas from the 17th oct to the 24th oct and found our stay very pleasant, the staff were friendly both in the restaurant and the bar,our room was cleaned every day and has all the other staff the cleaners bent over backwards for you. we stayed half board and found the food fine both at breakfast and evening meal they was pleanty of choice no complaints.now the rooms they were fine but i thought the bathroom was abit small if the wife was at the sink she had to move out of the way so i could get in to the shower and we are not large people, the room its self was ok we got lucky and ended up on the top floor opposite side to the pool the sun was there from midday till sunset so try and get a room on that side if you can, some reviews said the hotel was noisy but we dint hear nothing except a little road noise but with the doors closed it was not a problem. now this hotel is not for the young it was full of middle aged and elderly people we are in our 50is so was just right for us,we went round the pool a couple of times and they was plenty of sun beds and plenty of room to spread out the pool looked ok abit small but dint see any one in it the water was far to cold and by 2.00 pm the sun was moving away so we had no option but to go to the beach.this was our 2nd visit to benaldmadena and we will be going back but dont know yet if it will be to the las arenas i think i can find a better 4 star then this one.

Room Tip: try and get the opposite side to the pool high floor sun all afternoon good views.

Arrived on the 28th october for one week. You get off transfer bus at a bus stop 200 yards up the road and have to drag your luggage to the hotel. I would not like to be 70 with a walking stick having to do this.
Reception ok. Room clean and spacious but basic - no coffee facilities as expected from 4 star hotel. hotel noise terrible from other rooms, you could hear everything. Restaurant was chaotic- queues to get in and waiters rushing about with food. entertainment not brilliant. stayed in better hotels in costa del sol like the Yaramar (which is a 4 star)- will not be back.

Room Tip: request a higher room to reduce noise

My wife and I stayed at the los Arenas, benalmadena in september 2012 and it was our 4th visit to this hotel, once again we were not disappointedand,it is ideally situated for using the local buses to various destinations,eg Torremolinos,Malaga, etc. More important however is the hotel will endeavour to find a more suitable room should a particular room not suit, for example we were initially on the 1st floor and overlooked by nearby offices, although we had to wait 24 hours we were moved to the 5th floor which was ideal,in addition the food is of a high standard. We often eat out when in other hotels, particularly in Spain,as the food becomes repetitive & boring, however other than one night out of our ten night stay we were more than pleased with the evening meals, the breakfasts were also of a high standard. The los arenas also provided an entertainer each night which was of a decent standard, usually the artist was on stage for about 90 minutes. For anyone not familiar with the area i would recommend that you go to Bonanza Square which is about a 25 minute walk or 5/6 euros in a taxi ( the taxi service provided in Belamadena is second to none,so if ordering a taxi be ready to leave as they're that quick at picking you up,the hotel and any bar will order one for you). The drinks in the hotel are reasonably priced, slightly more expensive if buying the better known brands, my only complaint is bitter is not available in the hotel. Some of the local bars do have john Smith's or Worthington. If you do enjoy eating out, Bonanza Hill area have a good choice of restaurants including an Italian which is opposite the Karaoke bar, both are worth a visit, be aware if you are not a big eater as the portions are huge in the Italian (and good quality) so probably best avoid a starter !! Enjoy.

Room Tip: Avoid 1st floor on left hand side, as you enter hotel.
