“Good apartments in ideal location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

Overall Had a great stay at the MS allay apartments. Ideal location, 5 minute stroll from the beach and marina, and literally 2 mins round the corner from the 24hr square. The apartments are spacious and has all the mod cons you would need. Air condition is also very good. The pool is lovely, and you can avail of drinks snacks and sandwiches etc at the poolside bar. Staff were all helpful.Had an excellent stay at the MS alay, and would recommend for young people and families. Nightlife is good, and has plenty options for those looking for discos or just a quiet drink near the marina!

As everything in life, you get what you pay for. Value for money is what you get here, the rooms are definitely 4*, good space, good fittings, all utensils you need(if you need to use them). Yes the pool side rooms are quieter, but when you have younger people coming in at 3 or 4 o clock in the morning on tiled corridors you will get some disturbance (but we have all been young), we are a 70 year old couple. If there is a major problem the management are not slow to act.
As for the pool area, yes you have to pay for the sun beds, but you are s/c and not all inclusive and 1.80 euros is not excessive. Some people want everything for nothing.
The supermarket on the top road is by far the best value.
Dec's Irish bar on the marina is good value, as is the Italian also on the Marina.

Arrived at the apartments late friday evening, had previously requested a pool side apartment but were given an apartment looking onto the main road so the noise was pretty bad. When given the keys to apartment the woman on reception did not give any directions on how to get to the room, we had to find out ourselves, she was too busy talking to her colleague through the back to care.
Both female receptionists were rude and unhelpful when we asked for anything.
The rooms themselves were fine, basic but clean. Although lacking in the pillow department. We asked for 1 extra pillow and were told we would have to wait until the morning, went down the following day in the afternoon to find out if we were getting one and were told they had none so would have to wait until the following day again, we eventually got one 4 days into our week long holiday.
Rafael was on reception one day and he was very helpful, unlike his other two colleagues.
Had to pay for sun loungers at the pool everyday, and even if you left your bed and gave it somebody in your party they had to pay for it again.
Location was great for going to the marina, only few minutes walk to the main marina area and the beach.

The management are hell bent on making additional money out of guests. We were charged 300 Euros for what was no more than an untidy room. Other guests had similar experiences and faced similar costs without any opportunity to appeal. In my opinion duty management are no more than licensed thieves. This may sound a little strong, but in many years of travelling, I have never been subjected to this kind of blatant extortion in my life.
It was an awful experience... I would hate anybody to be in the same position as we were, but it appears to be commonplace in this particular establishment.
Please be warned !!!!

Room Tip: Choose another hotel.

We have just returned from a long weekend away at the Alay Apartments. We were greeted on arrival by Rafael who was very pleasant and helpful. As it was late on thurs evening he gave us a local map and indicated local restaurants that were still open in case we were hungry. The studio we booked was clean and had everything we needed for our short stay. The studio was a good size with a decent size kitchen diner. All the utensils were present and of a decent quality, though we never cooked anything. The bathroom was generous with a 3/4 bath and overhead mixer shower. There was plenty of hot water and the showerhead had a powerful spray. The apartment did have a musty smell when we first entered but put that down to it being closed up. The location of the apartments is fantastic, the beach and Marina are about 150m away. The only disappointment was the pool area which was scruffy but the poolside bar was open for business. The pool is shared with the Hotel Alay so may be busy in peak times. There are many bars, shops and restaurants all situated within a short walk and 24 hr square is only about 200m away. The apartments are suitable for elderly, young or families as there are two lifts in the foyer and a launderette on site. There are two small supermarkets on the doorstep and a large one by the Marina. There is some noise from the road outside, but it never bothered us. The bars in the Marina are expensive for drinks, so be wary when ordering spirits or cocktails. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would return to benalmadena and the Alay apts.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool are quieter though if you want a sea view you'll get one on the road...

just got back from these apartments , where to start , our first room stank of tobacco , they gave us two other choices , we took one over the pool , as we thought it would be less noisy , no pool noise just that we were near the lift and stairs ,so we moved again to the roadside , which was better , although a noise it was just people and cars going by . It all changed on the friday when stags and hens arrived , unbelievable the place was hell glad we were leaving on the saturday, they were like animals no considerstion for anyone else swearing drinking from early morn .
As some others said no mirrors in some rooms ,also our micro wave didnt work they changed it the day before we left , we didnt use one , but that wasnt the point . we would not return here , rooms basic totally agree bedspreads were rough, we took ours off, cant fault the clean rooms and bathrooms , reception were lovely too.very attentive to our needs. Also you pay 1.80 to use beds round the poolside daily,
and you have to ask to borrow a hairdryer they are in reception , should be in the room ,

Room Tip: make sure you have a miror in the room ,sounds mad but you do need it, check things are working, mic...

just returned from a 3 night stay - perfect location. the apartments were clean and well equipped for 3 nights, although it could have had a decent mirror. the facilities of these apartments could be improved; no bar; pool area was scruffy with the grass needing cutting and the sun loungers very basic of which there was a daily charge for usage. please also note as this was an economic apartment block you are subject to hen and stag parties that were noisy.
