“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

Had a week in March with very good weather for the time of year. I emailed the hotel and got exactly the postition of room that I required. I felt all the staff tried to go the extra mile in what every they did. There was only one night when all the plates etc pilled up on our table and were still there after pudding but the dining room did seem to have less staff that night. The hotels refurbishment is very nice but I do wonder if some of the fittings will look good a few years time! I enjoyed the food most times but felt it could have been a bit hotter at times and sometimes the conbinations of food was a bit strange eg Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding but the only potatos were chips or jacket potatos!!! The hotel is in an excellent postition with easy access to the front with a lift, I dont like lifts and think it was about 80 steps up/down from Reception to the front. One or two people loved the hotel but were not happy about the busy main road at the back. It is very busy but there are plenty of places to cross and there is an island in the middle which also helps. I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel an hope to go back in the future.

A very nice hotel in good location, room kept clean, excellent food & tapas, friendly & helpful restaurant staff. Wi-Fi not bad considering how many people using it but it is being upgraded, I think. Anyway, desk staff also helpful, indeed, as was the exceptional Cristina de Gallego, representing Thomson. Moitas grazas

Arrived at 10.45pm had a very nice welcome by reception staff and was pleasantly surprised with a bottle of champas on ice and two cold meals(mixed cold meats, salad etc) in our room waiting for use. Drank the champagne and ate the food plus basket of fruit I room. We had a superior room no.207 sun in afternoon overlooking sea. Excellent cleaners towels changed every day. Did try the Al a carte restaurant but was a bit of a disaster as I ordered the Salmon but when it came was really overcooked so informed waiter who asked me to re-order which I did but 1/2hr later still no meal husband had finished his cod which was nice but no main course came out for me so when waitress came up and asked DID we want a desert I said yes please order strawberries and then quietly left by this time nearly an hour had passed and no main COURSE ARRIVED service is very poor in this restaurant much better in general hotel restaurant.

Room Tip: No problems on 2nd floor but does have sun in afternoon when facing AWAY from Marina

Just come back from the Hotel Riveria. Pleasent enough hotel resently refurbished. Reception and holiday rep very good and very helpful. One problem given the wrong room our allocated to a family with a similar name Sharp not Shaw. Food not bad report should say could do better in Spain you should have Spanish food. There was tapas. Tried the la carte one evening food not bad some had been under a heater for too long. Good view of the sea nice walks along the prom. Local buses cheap UK bus companies note. £1.50 for a 3/4 of an hour bus ride. Entertainment a bit hi di hi for my liking but there was a quite room and wi fi if you wanted it.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side for the afternoon sun

Have just spent a thoroughly enjoyable week in this hotel which has recently been refurbished. All the staff were pleasant and helpful and very smartly dressed. The food was excellent. The hotel is right above the promenade and there is a lift down to promenade level. Each room had its own balcony and even though we were on the side of the building we still had a sea view. The entertainment was very good and if you didn't want to go to that there was a quiet room for reading and a very comfortable games room with tables for bridge etc. and a pool table. There is a busy road behind the hotel but with the balcony door closed no noise could be heard. There is a very nice promenade with the marina about 15 minutes walk away. There are shops on the promenade as well as eateries and shops on the road outside. We will definitely return. This is a couples only hotel which was an added bonus.

Room Tip: We were on the Fuengerola or south side of the building and had the sun all afternoon. It was also...

We stayed at the Hotel Riviera in March 2014, on arrival we were pleasantly surprised, by both the reception area and the room, pool areas were great to! Although lots of steps between levels but a lift is available, which also takes you to the sea front walks, from here you can walk all the way to the marina, which is lovely, and on to to Toromolinos.

On the down side the food, was at best bland, whilst there was always a great deal of choice, ( if some were a little weird) but the main problems were that the staff were slow to refill the food and it was never really hot enough, guess the microwave in the corner was a possible clue! Tapas corner was a great addition, but again this had its down side, again cold, when it should be hot.
