“Just got back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2011

Have just got back from a long weekend at the Villasol. We got a very good deal, but regardless think we would look for another hotel next time.

The positives were the super friendly staff, who made you feel very welcome.
We had a wonderful view from our room.
The location of the hotel was very convenient for the beach area/marina and bus routes etc.
Bar/restaurant prices for drinks were very reasonable.

Our room itself was very tired and in desperate need of some t.l.c. However, it was clean, and was fine just as a base. The pool was small, but was again fine (dont think it would be suitable for small children though)

Poss the biggest let down for us was the food. Our expectations were not high, because of the price we paid, but guess we got what we paid for in the end. Breakfast was fine usual english breakfast but was never very hot., continental breakfast items looked okay. The coffee was the worst we have ever tasted and the tea was not much better.
The evening meals though were not very good at all and had we stayed there any longer we would have ended up eating out. We are not fussy eaters and will eat anything, but it was not of very good quality. Having said that the very many spanish pensioners who were staying in the hotel, seemed to enjoy it very much. English holiday makers were very much in the minority.

Room Tip: Pay extra and request a room directly facing the sea

Stayed at this hotel for a week in October and it was very good, from the moment we checked in to the time we left all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the 4th floor facing the sea which made waking up every morning to bright sunshine a perfect start to the day, the food in the restaurant was good albeit the choice was a little limited, again the staff were very friendly. The hotel has a small pool with enough sunbeds to go around at this time because it was not full, I should imagine during peak summer it would be a bit crammed although as the beach is only down a few steps it shouldn`t be a problem . The rooms are cleaned everyday with fresh towels, my only issues were there was only one electrical socket in the room for the tv located high up the wall and the entertainment was more aimed at the spanish clients but it didn`t bother us too much. My one tip for this hotel is to reserve a room with a sea view.

Just returned from 3 day trip. Ideally located near beach and short walk to very impressive marina. Food was beyond our expectations, with plenty of choice. Rooms were basic but clean with welcoming free air conditioning. View from room not great but didn't spend much time in it. Prices at hotel bar were very reasonable. Comfortable reception area with sea view. On main bus route to Malaga and Fuegirola so very handy. Weather 30 degrees in October can't be bad. Would definately visit again.

spent 3 days here in October, welcoming reception and good standard room at side of hotel with an 'almost' sea view and just back off the main road, some traffic noise . The standard was good, room clean with complimentary toiletries, restaurant food was good, variety and choice. Nice pool and quite cosy - could be difficult for those who have mobility problems as the pool was down a flight of stairs (perhaps there is another access - I dont know) Reception area was wecoming too. Would visit again, certainly up to its star rating. The hotel bar was not expensive and very nice too for an afternoon drink.

Room Tip: Best to be on the front of hotel with a sea view

Stayed for 10 nights with my husband in early October and could not fault it for the price we paid. Our room ( and probably all the others ) needed updating but was clean and comfortable and everything worked. We were lucky as it faced the sea and those facing the main road could well be noisy. All staff were helpful and pleasant and the food was excellent. There was always at least two really appetising dishes on offer each evening and the breakfast bacon was the best we have found in Spain. House wine at about E6 a bottle very acceptable. We had a hire car and parking was a bit of a problem and usually meant walking up the hill on the other side of the main road.

Went for a weeks break during October staying half board. would highly recommend for its location as its handy to shops/bus stop/24 hour nightclub square. Food and maid service was good and staff helpful. The hotel had mostly older people staying - so its not a club 18-30 hotel and is very quiet at times!! Room facilities were good but just a little small for 3 girls trying to get ready for a night out!!

Would happily recommend for location and value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view as hotel is right beside the beach!!

handy location .although the outside traffic noise was constant had to keep balcony door closed most of the time hence we had to keep aircon on alot .restraunt was very stuffy food adequate had to use microwave alot as food was cold even first at breakfast etc. staff were very helpful .maid service excellant .restraunt staff miserable maybe it was the stuffy atmosphere they work in !! i would stay again good value .

Room Tip: rooms on the south side are quieter.
