We are just back from a one week stay at the vistamar and had a fantactic time. We were given a two bedroomed apartment with 2 balconys, bathroom , and kitchen/sitting room.....and there was only two of us. The apartments were cleaned every day , with new towels and sheets every 2nd day and the cleaning staff were very friendly as were all the staff we met with in the hotel. The area was quiet at night so no problem sleeeping but only a couple of minutes walk to nearby resturants and pubs and 4 euro in taxi to go to the marina.

An irish pub at the end of the hill called the Ha Penney bridge had a great grill and the food was unreal. We also found a fantastic Italian at the port called pinochios and would so reccomend it.

All in all a great relaxing holiday and I would defo stay in Vistamar again if we go back to Sol.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Vistamar and did not experience any of the problems that others have listed. The hotel was ready for us when we arrived on a Monday afternoon and even upgraded us to a 1 bedroom from a studio room based solely on an email enquiry on the price to do. I did not even have to ask on arrival. Granted the room was on the 4th floor (same as reception) on the back side of the hotel, but it worked well for us.

Prior to booking the hotel was very accommodating in answering email questions regarding the property.

We arrived and got checked in then went exploring down on the beach. It’s a short 5 minute walk across the main road. There is not “Sewage” flowing into the ocean as referenced in the post below, it is simply a storm drain from the streets next to the beach. The ocean does drop off fairly quickly but we didn’t really have a problem with our 1 ½ year old playing on the beach, just be responsible parents and watch your kids.

Our room was cleaned daily with towel changes if you “requested” them by leaving the towels in the tub, not hanging up (this was clearly explained on the card posted in the bathroom). Not sure on the sheets as we declined cleaning on our first day, the second our daughter was asleep in the bedroom and the third we found clean sheets. We even found the housekeeping staff courteous when we were in the room when it was time to clean and our daughter was asleep. They were also more than willing to sweep up a broken glass that was dropped.

The desk staff was helpful in trying to arrange a different pickup time for our airport transfer and also was helpful in getting us on the right bus to head to the marina. We did take a taxi to the aerial tram and it cost 6 euros each way. The safe was 3 euros a day plus a 10 Euro deposit for the “key”.

There is a “Plus” supermarket about 200 meters to the south (past burger king) for groceries, for those familiar it was very similar to an Aldi in the US. They were pretty limited on selection and out of some items such as loaves of bread (we just used burger buns, and baguettes) We stopped at another store (supersol) when we were over by Tivoli world and found a much better grocery with better selections. I think that there is another store further south but we didn’t get that far.

We didn’t have any problems with partiers in the evening, although the hotel behind had a party at their pool ramp up around 10 pm (we were tired enough that it really didn’t seem to be a problem).

About the only complaints that we have is that the power to the room a/c is controlled by motion sensors in the living area and bedroom. So if you sat still enough or were lying in bed not moving the A/C would shut off. We found ourselves having to “kick” the air while sleeping to keep the A/C running. The beds are also pretty hard.

I’m not sure what people are expecting when they write the questionable reviews below. We found the hotel very acceptable for those that aren’t expecting the Ritz or a high end hotel. It was perfectly adequate for our family and was stylish with granite countertops, a well appointed bathroom/bedrooms and good service. It was clean and well stocked for those that want to do their own cooking.

We would return to the Vistamar on our next visit. They had exactly what we needed.

The personnel at reception is not qualified and agreeable, they are not willing to help and advice you. They speak bad words behind you, thinking that you don’t understand Spanish.

The personnel in the restaurant don’t know English and it is difficult to express your wishes. They start the dinner at 20:45, even for foreigners.

The room “studio” is small . If you open the child's bed you have to jump over it to go in the bathroom. The air-conditioner is wrong placed, over the bed, blowing upon your head. You cannot use it overnight.

The balcony doesn’t offer any intimacy; the neighbors can look freely in your room.

The towels are not all the time clean and they are pretty used.

There are not enough chairs at the swimming pool. After 11-12. a.m. is difficult to find a free one.

There are few parking places. You have to make a reservation 3-4 days before to get one and you have to let you be contacted daily to confirm the reservation. Otherwise you lose it.

I had neighbours that spoke loudly till 2 a.m. on the coridors.

The beach is cramped and the town sewege flows into the see at a 100-200 m distance. The see goes deeper only after 2-3 meters. You cannot play with small children

Just returned from a 12 night stay at Vistamar. Exellent hotel well worthy of 4 stars. Great staff, nothing was too much trouble. Nice pool and gardens. Lovely well equipped rooms and large balcony.

I did consider cancelling my booking after reading some earlier reivews but was glad I didn't as the hotel was brilliant.

The Vistamar is on a steep hill but there is a short cut through the hotel garage which is a great help.

Although the hotel is a little out of the way I found this to be no problem the Marina is 20 mins walk away and there are buses running regularly nearby.

If I were to return to this resort I would stay at Vistamar again.
