I have just returned from a 4 night stay in the Best Siroco Hotel in Benalmadena, Spain. The first thing we noticed was that there was no atmosphere in the hotel. We have stayed there quite a while ago and decided to give it another try. The room was very clean but a bit outdated. Big old tele, oldish upholstery and bedding. Not very new towels (but clean). You could only get BBC world news, no other British channels. No tea or coffee making facilities. Tea at breakfast poor. Overall room was basic but clean. We paid for half-board. Food at breakfast ok but not varied. Every morning there was a queue for fried, scrambled eggs or omelettes. The layout seemed confusing. One place for cereals, milk in another place. Toasters in one place, butter with hot meals, very confusing. Evening meals ok but more catered for Spanish.A bit of a bunfight at times. The bar and entertainment poor and has been moved from reception area to near pools. Garden and pool area very good. Overall reasonable value but more for someone looking for a quieter holiday. There are bars near by and quite near beach but down to beach and quite steep back up.

Room Tip: Only some rooms face sea. Rooms around 108,208,308,408 above laundry and noise during day. Take a ke...

Only 4 nights but enjoyed my stay. Hotel was clean and cheap. Try Vernon's bar up the road. The Mad Irish bar across the road does a great steak. There's lots to do here and there was plenty of sunbeds. Top temperature was 39 deg :)

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

We spent a week in this hotel last June. Only a 3 star hotel but we found it very comfortable and in a good location. The Siroco is located in Benalmadena on a gentle slope, within reasonable walking distance of the main road, where there are frequent buses to Torrelmolenos and Fuengirola. We paid a little extra for a superior room, which had a fridge and a very pleasant balcony overlooking a lawned area, small stream and two swimming pools. The dining room was spacious and the food quite good. There wasn't a great range of dishes but in view of the fact that this was a 3 star hotel we found it very good, and there was a nice range of potatoes on offer for each meal, baked potatoes, new potatoes, mash and the usual french fries.
The very attractive marina is also within easy walking distance, though I woudn't recommend drinkiing there during the evening. We had one drink, I had a pint of lager and my wife had a gin and tonic, cost 14 euros! On the positive side there are a number of reasonably priced bars in the close viciinity of the hotel.
During the day the walk from the marina to Torremolinos along the promenade was very pleasant with many reasonably priced cafes and bars.
In short for the money we paid it was a very pleasant holiday.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a superior room, it's worth it.

I always try to look on the positive side so here goes.

!) Location good, with really lovely grounds, lots of loungers and different areas to relax in.

2) Room small but clean and comfortable with 2 double beds. Plenty of hot water and we had nice views. Also never had to wait for a lift more than a few minutes.

Now for the not so good comments.

!) Absolute chaos when checking in. We had to wait for quite a long time as the 2 staff kept disappearing into a back room. No doubt they were really busy but one poor man had waited for over 1 hour to get his room. Also and this galled us all in the group when the Spanish came to the desk they were dealt with straight away even though others were waiting.

2) The food was so so with the usual soup, salad bar etc. but the quality of the meat was atrocious - really inedible. To be fair we had not paid a lot for the holiday but ......

3) Restaurant staff really do need to learn to smile, the cook??? and I say that tongue in cheek frying the eggs in the morning was downright rude to some of the customers, ignoring the Brits but talking to the Spanish.

I would suggest that Jet2 look again re. sending customers here as we would never go to this hotel again even if it were free. Staff being pleasant and smiling really does make one enjoy the holiday more and can even help people to get over other niggles they may have re. food, rooms etc. Some of the bar staff were pleasant but they were in the minority. The one person who was really lovely was the young lady organising the entertainment, she spent time chatting to us all.

Lets hope that the management get staff on a training course,

Room Tip: We had a nice room with a sea view so request one with such a view
