“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We went to Balmoral in June/July 2012. At the beginning of our holiday it was a little bit cold, about half of our stay (we stayed 10 days) we haven´t go to the sea because of the wind and coldness. On the other hand, as the weather became warmer, lots of jellyfish came to the beach, so it was impossible to swim in the sea either.

The hotel itself is OK. We stayed in the last floor in a room with seaview. From the balcony we also saw the pool and mountains, so I loved the view. The rooms were nice and clean, and seemed to be reconstructed recently. The balconies were OK, except of the fact that we could look into the room of our neighbours and vice versa. The rooms have been cleaned every day.

The location of the hotel is good - the sea and beatiful beach is right across the street and nice restaurants, shops and caffes are also nearby. Unfortunately, the centre of the night life - puerto marina - is quite far away, I would say like 2 kilometres, but on the other hand, the promenade to puerto marina is nice, with a lot of restaurants and next to the sea.

We were half board. The food was not bad, nor great - I would say average. You have to pay fot the beverages. In the hotel there also were lots of children (school trips), so it was sometimes really noisy and overcrowded, that was really annoying. It was better to go to the dinning room earlier.

The pool is nice, although quite cold. There is a bar and deckchairs and during our stay, the pool area was rarely full. I didn´t like the fact that there were people who kept an eye on the hygiene - once they even told an older woman, that she has to get a shower before going to the pool. Right, they have to provide a clean pool, but this was quite unpolite and uncomfortable.

All in all, the hotel was OK, modern but small rooms, beautiful view out of the balcony, nice but quite small pool, average meal. But it was good for the price. We were content.

Room Tip: All rooms with sea view also have a view to the pool and mountains - great.

My husband and myself stayed here for 20 days over Christmas and New Year.
Saw it advertised on teletext and thought i would book this as the price was right. The hotel is basic, the rooms were exceptional,I asked for a south facing and got it.Balcony was spacious and very sunny.Hotel was spotless and beds comfy.Food was hot but not alot of choice,Basic salads for starters and watery soup.Mains were ok.Didnt see a paella the whole time.We got a free carraffe of wine Christmas Eve,Christmas Day,New years EveI was told by the friendly barman that wine was free New years day too and wasnt offered it but stood my ground and demanded it. .But i speak spanish and asked,The other english didnt get and werent told,It was mainly spanish and there was basically about 20 english in the hotel over christmas,Some of the spanish people are very friendly especially if you make an effort, But the english stuck together,Can you believe this some of them go year after year to this hotel.Entertainment was non existant and the animation didnt even speak to any of us,New Years eve was like bedlam in the disco room,we all went upstairs and had to go back downstairs till nearer 12.The spanish are good fun, and we saw the new year in.For all entertainment we walked 200 yds up the road to LAS ARENAS.Where they have english entertainment every night and some of the drinks were cheaper and bigger measures. The drinks were too bad in price especially beer and wine, infact quite cheap but when i ordered a spirit it was very expensive the SMIRNOFF was a cheaper brand called MIRNOFF and charged over the top price so i didnt have any more spirits.we had a bar in the bedroom, the rooms were very comfortable even had an armchair in,Overall this hotel was what i expected full of spanish which we dont mind,i didnt expect too much but location was ideal, and flat which was ideal for my husband who has walking difficulties.would i stay there again "probably not" but the price was right ,If we go back next christmas would probably stay at Las Arenas",but the weather made the holiday it was exceptional at 25-26 degrees some days,So overall we enjoyed our holiday.Met some lovely people there,

Room Tip: One side of the hotel is in the shade and the other in the sun.I asked for a midfloor south facing r...

My wife and i were there last week Aug/first week Sept (meant to write this review sooner!).
First the good news: very comfortable beds, clean, well kept rooms, effective air-conditioning, central location.
Bad news: poorly kept poolside area (scraggy lawn, worn-out, uncomfortable sun-beds), not-so-friendly staff, smelly, rubbish-strewn approach to hotel entrance.
Mostly Spanish families there, who kept to themselves, so we felt like outsiders, no friendly vibes.
One of the best things about our stay, though, was having a pool-view room, so we had sun all day, so we spent more time on the balcony than at the pool-side. Even then, we felt that the reception staff made a mistake, and that we would have been condemned to the shaded side of the building if we had been checked in by one of the more experienced receptionists. I have a particular reason for believing this which I won't go into here.
Would we go back? No, wouldn't relish dealing with the receptionists and feeling like outcasts!

Room Tip: Bring a travel kettle and decent cups. We did and found it to be a God-send!

First time at this small hotel just outside the centre of Benalmadena.. Very close to the beach, shops and restaurants and for anyone who enjoys promenading perfect for a 20min stroll to the marina and centre of the resort. The interior and rooms are immaculately maintained, and although not the Ritz, this is a pleasant place to stay. Meals are typical of many in Spain, ie varied and not "English" but of good quality, with sufficient for most tastes. Perhaps a little more choice of mains but ok for our palate. Not a lot for the kids, apart from swimming pool and table tennis, but this could be due to our visit being late October. Probably more going on summer months. Good value for money and having stayed at several hotels in this area pleased to say rooms etc are amongst the cleanest. As stated not the RItz but very well turned out.

Room Tip: All rooms overlooking the pool have a good side view of the sea and mountains and have a balcony.

We have just returned from the hotel balmoral,we read all the reviews before going and decided to give it a go,the hotel is spotless, the position is really good as well, thats where it ends, the reception staff are really friendly but hardly any english spoken, the cleaners were also very friendy and went out of their way to be helpfull, there was a fantastic barman,a big jolly fellow, but the rest of the bar staff and all the dinning room staff were positvely hostile, they didnt want the english there, the food was so so,but i have to say the breakfast they serve is on oif the best on the del sol, real sausages,as soon as all the older spanish left the hotel, the food became sloop, really discusting, the sun beds were unusable just one position and very saggy, hardly anyone used them,There are some really friendly bars just round the corner who cant do enough for you,its a shame becuse we wanted to like the hotel, but will most def not be going back.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel
