One of our favourite restaurants was the now closed Rendezvous in Plaza Ole. What luck to find the chef from the Rendezvous is now running the kitchen in The Vine in Arroyo de La Miel.
Not the plushest of eateries but you cant beat good food good drink a bar showing all the football and friendly service from the husband & wife team of Terry & Jan. Sadly Aston Villa fans........
Anyway onto the food. On our first visit this holiday, there was a specials board advertising Curry deal for 9.95€. This includes Chicken or veg pakoras or Onion Bhajis, a main meal curry from 3 available served with pilau rice and chapati freshly made from scratch. Apparently the chef is fully trained curry chef. 3 of our party of 6 had the curry meal, 2 rib eye steaks and 1 fish and chips with mushy peas. The rib eye`s were cooked as requested 1 med rare 1 med served with real chips from potatoes peeled on the premises that day and cooked when ordered. None of your frozen french fries here.
The curries were sampled by all and all agreed they were very good.
Our second visit was a couple of days later where 5 out of 6 went for the curries. The odd one went for Salmon which again was beautiful. The curries dont have an option for chips at the set menu price so we ordered 2 bowls of chips as an extra this time.
The options today were lamb or chicken Bhuna, L or C Madras and L or C Achari (?) I think there is also a vegetarian option.
Terry said he intends to serve the curries as Tapas portions during the world cup matches (which hadnt started during our visit). As well as the meal deal.
so if your out and about in Arroyo give The Vine a try, we will definitely be back.
