“very pretty little alpine village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

its lived in all year as it’s the admin headquarters for the area, so that gives it a genuine feel. development has been managed so it retains a fair amount of charm. superb for ski in winter and well placed as a base for a horde of summer activities

“Small village with access to the largest ski resort in the world!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

St-Martin is the perfect ski resort: small and big at the same time! You'll access the top of Meribel and the Three Valleys in just two ski lifts, while staying in a lovely chalet far from the big buildings of Les Menuires or val-Thorens.

The best way to go back to St-Martin after a long ski day is to do "Jerusalem".

And one more secret: on you way back to your chalet stop by the butcher "Le Grenier Bellevillois", I can guarantee you'll not be disappointed.

“Charm in abundance and great skiing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

To say that there isn't much skiing and only "one long blue run", In St Martin is a bit like saying there are no sights in Paris apart from the Eiffel Tower!
The village is very pretty, and though now dominated by the winter sports industry, still is home to local families with cows and goats which graze the summer pastures. In that sense maybe it can be said to be a "non ski resort", but that's hardly to its detriment. Like most people on trip advisor, I write this review as a winter sports nut. The reasons I would rather stay here than anywhere in the 3v:
the pretty village; traditional accommodation in old farmhouses and converted farm buildings; the lack of big tour operators and huge hotels; the satellite hamlets; great local family run restaurants; the best run in the 3v-Jerusalem, often empty, rolling down to mid station above the village; the vast gentle off piste opportunities above the village for enthusiastic intermediates; the total absence of bling and pretension; (save perhaps the sight of the odd helicopter dropping people off for lunch at 2 michelin starred La Bouitte in St Marcel!); easy access to the rest of the 3v (Bottom of Meribel in 30 mins from the gondola in St M); more challenging off piste from La Masse; the run home at the end of the day (compare the crowded grim and icy slithering back into Meribel).

As a good skier I would rather stay here than anywhere in the 3v. Yes the lifts might close if the wind is up and the weather is bad, but guess what? If they're closed here, then the rest of the 3v will be likewise affected and you can bet the queues elsewhere will be huge and the skiing similarly limited.
In a way I shouldn't be writing this, as I may induce others to come and stay here. It's the kind of place where you have to search accommodation and travel independently, so I suppose it attracts the more independent minded traveller from the UK.

“St Martin de Belleville-A real gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013 via mobile

St Martin de Belleville is situated in the heart of the Trois Vallees and the location of this beautiful village together with its efficient lift system gives speedy access to an amazing network and variety of pistes. There are fantastic restaurants, especially Le Montagnard, and the Piano Bar is a friendly place to enjoy a drink. I hope you love St Martin as much as my family do!
