Owner description: This mosaic of different destinations offers a multitude of different ambiances and atmospheres that also reflect the changing architectural styles of winter sports resorts since 1961. Most of La Plagne’s villages were designed by architect Michel Bezançon.La Plagne is part of the Paradiski area and therefore is one of the large ski resorts and is also a family-friendly resort with adapted package offers.

“Fabulous Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2012

La Plagne is an absolutely fantastic resort with lots of great pistes for all abilities making the skiing superb, and being able to go across to Les Arcs is a huge bonus. The snow conditions this year are just perfect. We stayed in La Plagne 1800 in Chalet St. Moritz that we booked through Ski Line. There were 8 of us on the holiday and we went catered this year, so we were a bit worried our lunches on the piste were going to be really expensive - but actually they weren't compared to other resorts in France we've been to. We found the quality of the food and wine in all the restaurants we got to (wide ranging as we skied the whole Paradiski area, including Les Arcs), to be very good as well as excellent value for money, and our lunchtime budget of 20 Euros went a long way. We will defintely go again.

“Great ski resort for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

This is a great ski resort for families. We went as two couples and stayed with alpine elements. The accomodation was fine and close to the slopes. It was a good job that it is a high resort as the snow was disappearing by the hour. This was fine though as the snow cannons were on every night and the pistes were always fine.

It was very much geared up for families and was very busy by the village but when you get up high towards the glacier it was fine. The runs were very much a mix, with lots of blues and reds to keep you occupied. This resort is very good for learning and you can gain a lot of confidence early on into the trip. Dont be tempted to go straight up to the glacier though as the so called blue run at the top is definitely now for the faint hearted!

All in all this was a great place to visit. We are off to les Arcs this year and hoping to pop over to la Plagne for the day on the venoise express.

“Chalet Iona - Ski France - Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2012

Stayed at Chalet Iona, Plagne Village - booked with Ski France. Party of 7 with age range of nearly 70 years! Chalet host Gemma was excellent. Food was delicious and always tailored to our various requirements. Chalet clean and comfortable.

Transfer from the airport was efficient and comfortable - Kathy (Ski France rep) met us there and very informative and helpful en-route to La Plagne. Gemma (chalet host) was waiting to meet the coach and immediately made us all feel welcome and at ease. Children adored her!

Chalet location exceptional! Within a few steps of everything you'd need - the tele-bus connecting Plagne Villlage to Plagne Centre; a Spar and gift shop; ESF ski school; a bar and the piste down to the main Plagne Centre ski-school meeting points. The children ski'd to ski school every morning which took less than 10 minutes door to door. Fantastic. Views from the Chalet were stunning across the valley to Mount Blanc. Chalet was quietly situated although does have a flight of fairly steep steps down to it.

Would definitely recommend and would like to return. Five stars to Gemma (chalet host) and Kathy (Ski France). Would recommend using ESF ski-school as almost opposite and found them to be really friendly and helpful.

we stayed in chalet iona in plagne village over new year 2011/2012 our party consisted of my husband & I with our son aged 10 , sister in law & mother in law also a good friend & her daughter aged 11-chalet was excellently situated next to bus stop & cable car to plange centre- we had stayed at plagne 1800 before felt a little out of the was but this was brilliant- chldren could ski down to lessons if wanted & those of us that werent skiing great connections to other villages & excellent walking trails on plateau.
chalet has 4 beds (all ensuite) and was very confortable for our needs - only thing no DVD player or CD player depite being advertised- would have been quite good idea.

Our chalet host was Gemma- I cannot praise her enough- food was great she looked after of of our dietary requests- several I can tell you !! & the day that we had absolutely awful weather together with a severe snowstorm which meanyt that some of our party couldnt get home she was invaluble & stayed until bed time &played with the children.

“Chalet Laponia and SkiBeat great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2011

My family and their partners (all adults) had exclusive use of Chalet Laponia. The chalet was clean and had plenty of shelving and wardrobe space (something lacking in even more upmarket chalets I have stayed in). The plumbing was a bit cranky when every one was trying to have a shower at the same time, but we managed. Skibeat minibus picked up us at our appointed time everyday right outside our chalet and dropped us at whichever lift we wanted to go to. Excellent service! The public buses ran every 15 miniutes and only a very short walk away to the bus stop. The lounge was warm and cosy, but maybe the "pews" could be replaced with comfy sofas. Smix, our chalet host, was helpful, friendly and knocked up some great food. The chalet does need boot heaters but we overcame this with putting ski boots on the radiators. Whilst La Plagne has some great blue runs and I believe it would be excellent for beginners, we would have preferred more reds. However the snow was disappearing very quickly (6 days of brilliant sunshine and about 18 degrees by the end of the week - we needed surf boards on the lower slopes). If the snow had been good the blacks would have been more like reds giving us more scope, but as it was we more or less had to leave them alone they were so cut up and icy at the beginning of the week. For the money - we booked last minute and got a bargain - I thought it was great value. Skibeat staff were great and everything ran smoothly.
