If you want excellent food, fine wine and superb service , Hotel Carlina fits the bill perfectly. The day begins with a fabulous breakfast buffet of fresh fruit, smoked salmon, cheeses, etc and also bacon and eggs cooked as you wish. The lunch menu is superb. Most tables are full by 1p.m. and one day there was a table with 10 ski instructors - true testimony of the fine food !! Dinner is a gourmet occasion worthy of a Michelin star with truly impressive wines to match. A Lottery winner could have enjoyed a 1998 Ch. Margaux or 2002 Ch. Cheval Blanc. But without deep pockets, there are luscious , crisp whites from the Savoie as well as many good reds.
After a long day skiing, an easy blue takes you back to the hotel ski room with lots of locker space and heated boot racks. A small indoor pool and lovely spa awaits tired muscles .
In common with other reviews, a small gripe is a bath with an overhead shower but missing any wall fixture !! That's of minor importance when you remember the major attractions of this hotel which will feature again on my ski calendar.
