“Like a bowling centre with service below any level”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

Just for the info: i lived in Paris for 3 years, i know the French standards. But even than it was one of the most terrible experiences ever. Every year after skiing we go with our group (14-15 persons) to a restaurant to eat for instance Raclette or Cheese fondue. Regional products, so they must be good, right?
Nope. The cheesefondue was not mixed well, and was returned. After 45 minutes it came back, when the whole table was actually finished eating. The cheese was not all right, it looked like the cook was having a hard time.
But the service itself sucked bigtime: waiters running around, being very unfriendly, and not caring for the customers.
We all worked in bars and restaurants, so we asked ourselves: what happened here? We paid € 550 for a supposed to be great night, where the restaurant could at least have earned € 750...
La Cabane: please fire the bored singer, hire some staff that knows how to do their job and have someone managing the pllace correctly. That will do the trick.
You can do better than leaning on customers already in the village. Until now, i gladly recommend everyone to have dinner somewhere else.

“Good service, not too expensive, not a bad place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2012

The restaurant is located is located in the area Ruches. It is a bit on the side, but right next to the center of the resort, where most of the restaurants are located.
The menu looked diverse, with the winter "comfort" foods (cheese & potatoes) and sushi amongst other choices. Cost-wise it is comparable to other restaurants in Avoriaz, and not the most expensive one.
The restaurant has a bar, where you could spend some time waiting for a table, or have a few drinks. There were three bartenders, they knew the names of the drinks, but it wasn't anything too exciting or fantastic, but I think most people in the bars are looking for relatively simple drinks, not designer cocktails.
The music was a bit on the louder side, playing current pop hits, but not too bad, and the overall atmosphere was fun. The light is not too bright, and later in the evening some people were dancing in their area.
The layout of the place is broken up into "areas" by the fact that there are a few levels, with 2-3 steps in between each. Everything still remains open, but at the same time allows for different parties to have their space.
In a small area there are two pool tables, and lots of kids (as expected during school vacations) congregated there.
There are large tables, and smaller "booth-like" areas for a family of four or couples.
The food was not bad, comparable to other restaurants in the resort. The appetizer French onion soup had a bit of a modern twist to it, and was not bad; the size of the portion was good. The burger was of really good size, even a bit big, though I would have preferred that the portion of the fries that came with it was bigger. The bread was fresh and warm, and the Tartiflette portions were about the right size and tasty enough to warm up everyone after the cold outside. The tea served was good, it was still a tea bag, but not your standard Lipton or Tetley.
The service was prompt and after we were sited at the table efficient. We were not pushed to leave, so it gives time to sit and enjoy your time together. The two people that worked at our table had a good sense of humor and fun presence.
We arrived without the reservations and the restaurant was full, so we had to wait a bit at the bar to be sited, but that was the case in most restaurants in the center.

“Really nice bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2012

Very chilled early evening with a relaxed feel, people still in snow gear and playing pool. Later on (after 11ish) the music picks up, people are a bit more dressed up and people dancing. Drinks comparable to elsewhere in the resort. The menu looked good although we didn't eat there
