“Loved it again, the second time.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

My spouse and I returned for the second time to the Millasserie this September and we were not disappointed. Our trip was equally as wonderful as the first time. It was the perfect combination of returning to a lovely familiar place whilst having the opportunity to explore new and different sights in the Dordogne. The Millasserie continues to be the perfect base to explore this wonderful region of France. Alain and Bryne are attentive and knowledgeable hosts with "spot on" dinner reservations and excellent sightseeing recommendations... Lou Peryol and Bistro en Face are favorites restaurants....the St Alvere market is lovely.....and the chateaus, charming villages, historic sites and natural beauty are simply too numerous to select a favorite. The Millasserie's maisonettes are large and beautifully decorated with French country antiques and enormous cozy beds. The pool, located amongst the lavender borders and fig trees, continues to be a welcome and refreshing afternoon treat. The location, on the quiet country road was as relaxing and charming as remembered. The breakfast served was simply delicious...including warm croissants and breads, yogurt, French pressed coffee, fresh fruit salad and fresh squeezed oj. We were so excited and SO jet lagged our first morning, we happily ate our way thru the whole basket of warm French pastries ! In summary, we highly recommend the Millaserie and hope to return again soon!!!

Hidden away in the forest the accommodation at the beautiful La Millasserie has clearly been thoughtfully created with impeccable style & regard for the comfort & needs of the discerning traveler. The rooms are a haven of peace & tranquility, elegantly furnished with an eclectic mix of antique and contemporary objets, a massive bed & a bathroom with a wonderful walk in rain-head shower....all finished to the highest standards. A charming private terrace off the bedroom overlooks the woods surrounding the property. Breakfast was taken in our host's stunning home.....fresh fruit, yoghurts, wonderful croissant & other delectable patisserie warm from the oven & even tasty homemade jam ...a fabulous start to the day. Byrne & Alain were charming hosts, happy to chat about ideas for daily excursions to the many fascinating & breathtaking places in the area....there are so many to chose from ! In addition their restaurant recommendations were wonderful & they kindly took care of all the reservations for us. All in all a true gem of a place, highly recommended for those seeking stylish, tranquil & luxurious accommodation in an area of France rich in history, culture, gastronomy & natural beauty.

Three words to sum up a super week spent at La Domaine. Gracious and charming hosts, Alain & Byrne, extremely helpful, everything we had hoped for and well deserving of its 5* rating.
Highly recommended!!

We stayed for 10 days at La Millasserie, and loved every minute.
First of all La Millasserie itself, the guest houses, the grounds and the swimming pool are simply heavenly. Located in a woody area within the Dordogne, it's the perfect location if you want a quiet break from the stresses and strains of every day life - but it's also not far from many beautiful medieval villages and towns if you want to do some sight-seeing.
Our room was beautifully furnished - very romantic, yet roomy, and we loved the terrace outside which looked out into the forest behind La Millasserie.
But what really made the trip extra special for us were the wonderful hosts Byrne and Alain. Not only were they extremely helpful (with lots of great tips for where to visit, and recommending and booking fabulous local restaurants for us), we also found them to be really great company and fun to be around. We were very sad to say goodbye!
We loved our stay so much, we can't wait to go back, and will most certainly return at some point next year.

We have just returned from our two week long vacation based at La Millasserie. It fullfilled our every expectation and more. Our hosts - Alain and Byrne are charming and exceptionally helpful with regards to booking reservations to eat in a variety of beautiful restaurants. The setting of La Millasserie is so tranquille - it brought us release from the stresses of every day life and work. The pool is super and a haven in the summers heat. We would not hesitate in recommending this property and can only offer our sincere thanks to both Alain and Byrne for welcoming us to their peaceful little haven. We now hope to purchase our own property in the beautiful Dordogne.

Very clean and well furnished room which has it's own terrasse looking onto the woods at the back. Peaceful and relaxing place to visit (no TV) as it is slightly off the beaten track but still well located to get to the sites in the area (although you definitely need a car).
Hosts were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay with useful information about where to visit and restuarants to go to.

A haven of peace and quiet. Beautiful room furnished with antiques, modern bathroom, lovely pool, delicious breakfasts with REALLY good coffee (a rarity in France!), and Byrne & Alain are so helpful. They decided where we ought to eat and made the reservations for us, which is lovely when you aren’t confident French speakers, and we couldn’t fault their choices. One restaurant in particular was outstanding and we would never have found it without them.
We would certainly stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone. It is a little off the beaten track so you do have to drive to restaurants and the sights, but the trade off is that you get to stay in this lovely spot.
