“An unforgettable heaven of peace, beauty and hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

This chateau was lovingly restaured and decorated and has been ran as a hotel for almost 10 years. It is a spectacular place for weddings, but also for a one night stop for people touring the area, as well as a few days stay as was my case. The feeling is perfectly French. A mix of natural beauty and architectural sophistication in a country style, with ancient trees and sunsets to knock your socks off. My bedroom and bathroom were lovely, as were all the public areas, all ancient rooms of the chateau. The welcome was familial and warm, with Colette (the directrice) at the front desk and Cedric (her son) a perfectly charming and witty Frenchman running the restaurant. Cedric delights in suggesting a variety of local wines, (all really good) as well as surprising you with culinary specialties. A tremendous value and a very special place.

This is a very unusual place - down a long drive off a very quiet road, away from any tourist hot spots - making for a very peaceful and beautiful setting. This is a an old house/small chateau and the building and grounds are absolutely charming. Don't expect 5 star luxury - but do expect so much more than the 3 stars the hotel has been afforded. We stayed in the Bibliotheque on the ground floor - a very big room with a door out onto the garden. The bed was large and extremely comfortable; the bathroom well equipped. Some aspects of the hotel are a little shabby - for example, the breakfast room is certainly in need of some decoration and the railings by the swimming pool could do with a lick of paint to stop them rusting away - but these really do add to the charm of the place. And I stress, the bedroom was certainly NOT shabby - indeed positively luxurious as it included the much-sought-after (by we tea-obsessed Brits anyway!) kettle, tea bags and coffee. The (unheated) pool area is gorgeous - such an elegant place to relax on the comfortable loungers. All the members of hotel staff we met were extremely helpful and warm - offering suggestions on where to visit in the area with enthusiasm and taking time out to find out how we were enjoying ourselves. The breakfast is fine if unspectacular. The separate on-site restaurant (for lunch or dinner) part of which is set in some of the oldest buildings on the site (14th or 15th century, I think we were told) is good, with an excellent wine list and a charming waiter (the son of the manager). I strongly recommend this place.

This was a gorgeous place, we went midweek in early June and it was very quiet and romantic- we had the whole place to ourselves. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully restored. The food in the restaurant was really excellent and the ambiance was just lovely.

I'm writing this review for any chain tea-drinkers who'd like to stay at the chateau to suggest to them to bring a travel kettle and a bottle of water. This is because at night after the restaurant closed, there was no possibility to get something to drink and it's quite remote.

However, I couldn't fault it for that, it was still a real find and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get away from it all and enjoy the French country life.

Some friends of ours had their wedding reception at the Chateau de Lassalle, so we stayed here for one night and wished we could have stayed for longer! The Chateau is not far from Agen, but the grounds were very peaceful and it seemed to be a lovely hideaway. I think there are 18 rooms (we were in number 4 on the 2nd floor) and evidently they are all well-decorated and "carefully appointed" with each one having a theme. Ours overlooked the beautiful countryside, and was comfortable, spacious and relaxing with a large bathroom with bath/shower. The staff at the Chateau de Lassalle were very pleasant and accommodating and we enjoyed all the food they prepared and presented (because we were there for the wedding, I am not sure what their standard dining options are but the food we had was definitely delicious - 3 types of local foie gras, excellent lamb, and an excellent breakfast the next morning).
I would definitely return to the Chateau de Lassalle for a relaxing break in the beautiful French countryside...I would just want to stay for more than a night next time!

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it.
Rooms are all very individual..we stayed in the Bibliotheque which had loads of books and was one the ground floor so had a little semi private grassed seating area.. restaurant was fab. menu actually didnt have Canard on it thank goodness which was a welome relief in this part of the world(as we dont eat it) and the Lamb, Fish and Pork meals were cooked beatifully.
Place is very private and tucked away down a long drive..seems like they might have a few Minor French Celebs who stay here (although Ive never heard of any of them)..one party did arrive by helicopter to stay whilst we were there and left it in the field owned by the hotel.
Great Place
Good Food
Not too expensive
5 out of 5 for me

This is a family-run small "boutique" hotel in a very laid-back part of France, away from the normal tourist haunts. The hotel itself is a converted manor-house type chateau with only about 20 rooms - each one sylishly interior-designed. There has been some real care and attention gone into this renovation. We were lucky enough to have a duplex with a mezzanine floor - easily sleeps 4.

This pretty hotel is set in very private gardens with a good-size modern, clean pool (although not heated) and is the perfect place to go if you want a more relaxed atmosphere.

Probably one of the best aspects of the hotel, though, is its restaurant. Built as a conservatory-type building next to one of the very old outbuildings in the garden, the quality of food and the hospitality we received was fantastic!

To cap it all, because this is an "unfashionable" (for now) part of France it was good value.
