“Beautiful Hotel & staff to match.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

First trip to Bali with husband, could not have booked a better hotel from 16th July to 30th July 2012 for our 2 week stay. Welcome drink on arrival and fresh fruit in room. Poolside deluxe room was perfect. Staff were amazing, friendly, helpfull and meticulous in whatever they do. Breakfast with so much choice and plenty of it. Never needed to eat lunch, nor dinner at times. Approximately 2.5 klms of airport, walking distance to all major shopping, numorous markets, fabulous restaurants and cafes. Transport was readily available from hotel at anytime. Will be returning back to stay at the Vira Bali next July.

Room Tip: Deluxe poolside room.

Looked lovely in the brochure. WE chose it becaue we prefer the more traditional looking bali hotels to modern ones. Room size OK and clean but looking a bit jaded around the edges.

So much buidling works going on all around the hotel that noise and dust pollution was a pain. In the gaps between the noise we also had to contend with the bell ringing from the church next door. No Sunday lie in here.

The air conditioner was so noisy you had two choices: 1. A disturbed night due to noise. 2. A disturbed night due to being sweaty and uncomfortable.

The pool area was the worst I have ever come across in Bali. The water is in the shade almost all of the day which meant it was very cold which explained why it hardly got used. Also there is only room for four people to catch the rays from the sun which only hits a very small area from about 11.30am to 3pm. The rest of the pool area is in shade all day. With the usual towel reservation system we were lucky to see any sun the whole week we were there.

The quality of the food was average to poor and even our free evening meal was a big disapointment. It did nothing to encourage us to eat here again. Prices within the hotel were outrageous. A 60c can of diet coke cost $3. Video recorder hire $15 a day as opposed to $2.50 everywhere else.

Staff were as friendly as anywhere else we have stayed in Bali but provided absolutely no service around the pool area.

The higlight or lowlight of the stay was a 3am screaming row between a lady of the night and her customer. It went on for ages with little effort by security to deal with it so everyone in the hotel got be involved in the free entertainment whether they wanted to or not.

I have been to Bali so many times I have lost count. Nowhere else have I been disappointed. Rest assured we won't be returning here.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

Stayed for 7 nights in a suite at the Vira and have mixed feelings about its performance.
Pro's:
Cosy, small, boutique hotel hotel with happy and helpful staff. Eating Lunch and Dinner at the hotel restaurant was not expensive and the food was tasty. Like many others we loved the baby pork ribs ...Yum.
The location is just right, out of the 'throng' of Kuta but within cooeee of it. A nice stroll via the beach takes about 15 minutes to Kuta or you can hop in a taxi and the fare of $1.50 will not break the budget. It sure beats walking along the treacherous footpath to Kuta Square!!
Cons:
Arrived at the airport and, after 45 minutes, had to phone to ask for my arranged transport. On arrival at the hotel the reception blamed Virgin Blue for not informing of out time of arrival.
Booked a suite as it was advertised as "a cupboard stocked with cutlery, crockery and glassware". I don't think two cups, two saucers, two spoons and two glasses in the bathroom meet this false statement. "Acquired" a couple of plates/knives/forks and glasses by retaining them after room service !!
The hotel did, and still does, advertise on its website "a free shuttle operates between the hotel and sites in the Kuta area" On enquiring when the shuttle went I was told that it had been cancelled since April 2012 and was not available !!!

Conclusion:
Good location. Happy staff. Misleading advertising regarding facilities lets them down big time !
Disappointed that we had forked out for the extras of the Suite which were not available

Room Tip: Book a Superior room. Less space/cost than a suite but you know what you're getting

Great hotel to stay, within walking distance to shops & market. Food excellent, breakfast so much choice & all fresh. Staff so very friendly and helpful. Juli (Joe) by pool with his command of English should be used in a higher customer service role, a very lovely and helpful young man. Both my husband & I are in our 60's (young 60's) and this hotel was ideal for us.
We would highly recommend this place. Try the restaurant at night fantastic.Maria & Colin Perth WA

Room Tip: Third floor great view of pool area.

This hotel is absolutley amazing! Ive stayed here twice, in May 2011 and July 2012 and both stays were excellent. Staff are excellent, who were very warm and welcoming all throughout our stay.

The food from the resturant is greatly prices and was amazing (I recommend the Gordon blue Burger!!) The buffet breakfast is also very good with varied selections of pastries and fruits on each day. Eggs and pancakes can be requested from the chef at the egg station in the seating area and are delivered to your table. This is great as you have peace of mind that they are made fresh.

For our most recent stay, my boyfriend and I booked the superior room but on arrival were told we had been upgraded to the Pool front room! This room was great with the pool just outside your door!

I had many massages from the spa in 2011, but only one in 2012, both times were great. Staff are professional and accomodating. The red rice tea they serve after your treatment is so yummy!
The hotels pool is great, we had it almost to ourselves everyday.

I could not fault this hotel, we were pleased with everything. The noise from the adjacent hotel is minimal and obviously not a criticism of the Vira. 5/5 We will be back asap!

Room Tip: Get the pool front room for the amazing view if your budget allows!

This is a good choice in Bali, good breakfast (although needs some improvements re choice of fruit and yogurts/cheeses). The swimming pool is nice but very shady so it is pretty cold to swim and there is a limited place for sunbath. The rooms are nice, spacious, simple and with nice design. Very good restaurant (although a bit expensive for Bali standard). Beach in a walking distance as well as the shopping centre that I would highly recommend for purchasing souvenirs (they have a far better choice and better prices than on the streets). I would say Vira Bali a good choice if you need good place to sleep, eat solid breakfast, check out your e-mail and use the rest of the time to explore Bali

We stayed here as we wanted a smaller quiter hotel that still was within walking distance to tourist area. We also wanted one night only as we were travelling elsewhere and then two nights later Not many resorts will do this they like the longer stays.
The plus for us was they allowed me to leave my big suitcase at the hotel durning my absence and the free wfi

We were concerned when we saw the big cranes accross the road however we had a pool side room downstairs at the rear of the hotel so we had no issues with the noise either from the busy road out front or from the construction . We walked down to Tuban beach which was lovely and quite and had a lovely meal at Envy which was right on the beach

Pool area was lovely and clean and was closed in the enenning which meant we were not bothered by noise around the pool .

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear
