“nice ,quiet hotel in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

We have just returned home after spending a week here. i found it to be very peaceful and relaxing as the hotel is located in south Tuban. there are no shops or stalls outside the hotel ,which was a plus. taxis are easy to find and are very cheap, we were a two dollar fare away from the hustle a bustle of kuta, so it was nice to arrive back here after a busy day , shopping etc.. i love to surf , so i found its location right on the beach very handy. we asked for a top floor room which was perfect for checking the waves as we could see kuta reef from the balcony. there is a no kids policy here so the pool was always relaxing and quiet. the room was adequate with nice big beds and fresh towels. the bathroom wasn't the best. we had to stand in the spa to have a shower , and the water pressure was very low, but we made do. all in all we enjoyed our stay here,

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are best for ocean views and sunsets. although be aware, there are no lifts here, so...

We stayed here in December for a week. A great example of an older style hotel but yet has all the charm of old Bali.
Unfortunately thus is closing soon to make way for a new 60 room hotel . It will be greatly missed by many . Always full , quiet and peaceful at the same time .

Room Tip: The higher the better the ground floor rooms lack privacy if you like to sit out on your balcony

It was a lovely hotel (not to be confused with others of similar sounding names) and our room was on the top floor with ocean views. The room was a little dated but clean and luxurious. We paid around $80 / night. Breakfast was a little ho hum, but enough to get us through until tea time. The pool area is nice and the hotel is very close to the airport.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the GG and we were very disappointed.

We had indicated via our Asia Rooms booking that we had a 6 year old child, however, this was overlooked. This wouldn't have been a problem until the GG decided the next day to charge us $US30 per night for him even though he was sharing a bed with mum and dad! We asked for an extra towel for him and never got it and they still insisted on charging $US30 for nothing!

This hotel is in desperate need of a renovation if they insist on charging the same price (which had increased substantially since we last stayed 2 years ago).

My son cut his toe twice on the pool tiles that are loose. They were falling off in the pool.

Overall, we will definitely give it a miss next time.

Dear Mr & Mrs "Belandtonino"

Thanks for your recent stay at the Beach Resort with your friends and your 6-year son.

Your friend made a booking for 4 adults with 2 rooms directly to the hotel (instead of through AsiaRooms) back in April. Had he indicated the presence of your child at the time of booking, our Reservation would have advised him to stay at other hotels nearby that are family-friendly, e.g. Green Garden Hotel or Febri's Hotel & Spa. Hence, your report on the T/A for booking through AsiaRooms is incorrect as we never received any communication from you regarding your room booking from April until the time you arrived at the resort with your child.

As outlined in its official site, Green Garden Beach Resort & Spa does not take any room booking with children because this is an ADULT ONLY hotel (dated back since its opening 10 years ago). Interestingly reported in your review that your booking was made through AsiaRooms, kindly note that AsiaRooms also indicates ADULT-ONLY hotel with no children under 18 (please refer to the bottom of its first page under HOTEL NOTE). Although visits for meals or having spa with children are always welcome, the resort does not allow children to stay in due to its intimate design & facilities.

Referring to your review details, I believe your previous stay with your son 2 years ago was not at this beach resort but at our sister hotel - Green Garden Hotel - which is located closer to the center of Kuta and Waterbom Park. You must have been referring to this hotel as indeed its room rate is much cheaper than one at the beach resort due to its smaller space with limited facilities and, yes, it is the child-friendly Green Garden.

I am sorry to hear that you son had cut his toes twice due to loose tiles in the pool. Had you reported this to any one of the hotel management during your stay, the tile issue and the necessary aid for your son would have been sorted out immediately.

Extra towels should readily be available in your room's wardrobe together with the pool towels. However, as outlined in the room directory, your room attendant only replaced the soiled bath towels from your room with new ones. If the towels were removed from your room, your room attendant would not replace them.

I understand that this little resort is in need of renovation. The whole resort will be demolished in early January and will be rebuilt to be a brand new hotel with a new design suitable for family. Information on the renovation has been outlined in its official site since last July, and that's why the room price is actually cheaper this year than it was 2 years ago.

We hope to meet you again in mid 2015 (i.e. our expected schedule for the renovation completion). The beach resort will have a completely different look and family-friendly facilities that are suitable for your children then.

Sincerely,

Paulus Wibowo
General Manager

We stayed here for 1 night, because we had an early morning flight out of Denpasar, so we had to choose something close to the airport. We went to the Green Garden resort because of all the good reviews on TA.
The staff are all really friendly and made us feel welcome at check in. We were handed a lovely fruit smoothie and were brought to our room. The room is basic, but has everything you need. The pool area looks great, and even though we didn’t have enough time here to enjoy it, I’m sure the pool is wonderful!

The location of this hotel is great because it’s only a 5 minute drive to the airport, and also a 5 minute walk to the main beach strip/central area of Kuta. As we thought Kuta was a bit too loud and touristy, the Tuban area is a great quiet escape, which is still close to everything.
Breakfast the next morning was really good, and all the staff again were really lovely.

Overall price was really good as well compared to a lot of other places in Bali, so would definitely recommend if you are looking for a nice affordable place.

Ps: we loved the towels, draped like little dogs!

Really nice hotel, bueatiful pool and garden. Easy access to beach (but no view of sea ). Breakfast cooked fresh and ordered from menu. Bueatiful dining area. Quiet location, walkable to kuta along beach or Rd but taxi also cheap. Rooms clean and quiet, good hot water. We had an extra bed which was a good mattress on low pull out frame, room large enough for 3adults. Bathroom a little dated but clean and functional, there was a window between room and bathroom but as this had curtains both sides didn't matter. Very friendly staff. Computer with free internet access in reception but very slow.

Overall excellent stay was sorry to leave. Good value.

Room Tip: We had ground floor room which had good access to pool.

I am here for my 12th visit and am very sad to hear the owners want to renovate this beautiful hotel. From the sound of the plans, everything that make GG Resort so special will be lost. What makes it so special? It has only 14 rooms so is never crowded. The rooms are large and immaculate. The pool is huge, set in lovely gardens. The spa treatments are wonderful, as is the restaurant. The staff are very special people who treat each guest like a member of the family. As it is, I rate this hotel 5 stars for a truly unique Bali experience. As it will be- too many rooms, no gardens, rooftop pool I rate it 0 stars and will not stay here.
Please don't change it!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
On behalf of all the staff & management, we thank you to all lovely patrons of Green Garden Beach Resort & Spa who have visited the hotel and become our extended families. The hotel will soon undergo a major renovation and will be closed as from 20 September 2013. Hopefully the schedule will be on time and we will be again seeing you all in the first quarter of 2015. You will be dearly missed but will see you again with our new face - more functional, more stylish, and definitely younger and fresher.... :-) Nestled in the peaceful Tuban village of South Kuta Beach, this intimate & small boutique resort is designed for couples looking for a romantic holiday. It is located less than 50 meters away from a beautiful sandy beach with clear calm water protected by off-shore coral reefs. Attractions of Kuta are within easy strolling distance including shops and a wide range of restaurants. Comprising of 15 guest rooms, only a few steps away from its well-kept frangipani garden and relaxing swimming pool with cascading waterfall, this intimate boutique resort is probably one of the most renowned budget hotels in Bali and provides superb facilities that will impress even the most discerning travellers. The spa is arguably one of the best in Bali with exotic traditional treatments and spa cottages, performed by skillful therapists. Being popular among lovers and honeymooners, children under 18 years are unfortunately not welcome at this resort as serenity must be maintained at all times. However this will change after the renovation is fully completed - families with children will be welcome in 2015. Currently the hotel consists of 4 levels and there is no elevator to the upper guest rooms. Ocean view is available from the upper rooms. Please feel free to contact the Resident Manager for any special requests. Thanks. ... more   less
