“Very relaxing stay at a great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2014

I spent four nights here and had a very relaxing time. The hotel is not one big building but rather several smaller two-storey buildings scattered across a beautiful and very well-tended garden with lots of beautiful plans and flowers. The main building houses a spacious and well-appointed lobby next to a koi pond, the bar and the restaurant that doubles as breakfast room, and which is flanked by the pool area. All the entrances have security checks to ensure a safe stay.

The hotel is in a quiet location slightly out of town, but there are several restaurants and shops close by. In a few minutes, you can easily walk to the newly built Lippo Mall, and the hotel offers a free shuttle bus to the town centre several times a day.

The free WiFi works very well and is comparably fast, however it is only available in the main building (lobby, restaurant, bar) and the pool area. This was absolutely sufficient for me, after all I wanted to spend my holidays on Bali and not on the internet. However, for a small fee you can also get WiFi in your room, if you want.

While this hotel is not new, everything was very clean and well-kept, I found nothing that was broken, looked worn out or did not work. Not only the rooms but all the facilities and the garden are kept very clean and obviously receive a lot of care.

The breakfast offers a lot of choices, from cornflakes and toast to hot Asian dishes, pancakes and eggs of all kinds made right in front of your eyes and fresh exotic fruit, to name just a few. Besides offering a wide range of breakfast food, the buffet also changes each day, offing even more variety. The restaurant also serves several snacks and pizza throughout the day, as well as a very tasty dinner.

The pool is good, it has a shallow area for children to play in, a deeper area and a pool bar. I never had a drink at the pool bar myself, but it seemed well-frequented to me. While I completely understand their necessity, the rather high concentration of chemicals in the pool should be mentioned as the only point of criticism I really have. I still enjoys swimming in it, though, and if you take a shower afterwards, everything is fine.

The Sukha Spa belonging to the hotel is superb and offers a selection of massages, beauty treatments or whole packages consisting sever different treatments at a vey reasonable rate. While the on-site spa is more expensive than the massage parlours and spas that line the streets, the service is in no way comparable, and I would always spend the extra money to get an overall fantastic and relaxing experience in an equally relaxing and safe atmosphere. All of the therapists were fantastic, knew what they were doing and were always friendly.

This brings me to the heart and soul of this hotel and what really makes this place unique in my eyes: the staff! Everyone was unfailingly polite, extremely friendly and welcoming, helpful and generally lovely. Everyone speaks English, and will always greet you with a cheerful "good morning/afternoon/evening" and a smile. They even phone you to remind you about breakfast if you seem not to be turning up in time. Never have I been made to feel more welcome than here. My thanks to everyone at the Risata for making my stay fantastic!

Stayed at Risata for 20 days through to April and would highly recommend this hotel for couples with children above 3 years of age and older people wanting to really relax. The children's pool is ideal for children over 3 not babies. The location is quite and not too much traffic. Two laundry shops on the street one across the road and another just up the road next to Warong Cafe. Approx five massage shops on the street. DVD shop across the road. As you walk out of the hotel to your right there is a cafe called SA great for drinks and the food is good satisfaction especially steak and satay ayum, you can take a usb along and they will play your songs but not rap or dirty lyric music. They always did mashed potatoe and bog sauce for our son and he loved it. The staff at Risata are absolutely lovely people always asking if we needed anything or if everything was okay. Gave us a call to remind about breakfast which we liked and also taken into account we had a small baby and would allow either one of us take food back to the room after breakfast when on split shift lol. Loved the footpaths to separate rooms, our son loved walking all over the hotel. Security is great front and back. You can walk from the back of hotel to Lippo Mall which is good when hot. Transport drivers always available. Room service is great loved the Club Sandwich and schnitzel with mash potato for baby. The gardens are lovely and I had taken pics of different plants for my wallpaper. The Spa on site is absolutely AWSOME nothing like what you get on the streets next time I stay I'll be booking for two hours lol. Breakfast is your usual for what you pay, must try the banana pancakes. Wifi is only aval around pool and dining areas if you would like in room I think it's $2 for almost two hours of Wifi. Other than that we didn't like the long wait (1.5hrs) to be checked into our room but we sat in the lobby which has great air con and TV with couple of computers and Wifi in there is also avail. Once we entered our room ground floor (delux) we were happy because ideally we wanted balcony view but the ground floor was ideal afterall because of our son and big heavy pram. Balcony is spacious also. Cleaness of rooms are great, but i suggest always leaving a spare card so the aircon stays on because sometimes takes time to become cool in room. If looking for a babysitter for baby maybe contact a nanny other mums have had but the nanny on site I guess would be ideal for older children 7 upwards. There is no children activity centre but small play area but large grass area, our son loved this area taking his cars and trucks to play on the lawn. Lastly I would like to point out THE POOL STEPS ARE VERY DEEP AND SLIPPERY DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN RUN AND ALSO BE THERE UNSUPERVISED. I have recommended this hotel to family and friends. Cheers

We didn't stay at the Risata (though it looks very nice) but we visited to enjoy the cooking school. We were picked up promptly from our hotel, by Linda (the head chef) and Flower, (a front office staff member I think) and were first taken to the local markets to see the fresh fish, meat and fruit and vegetable stalls. The markets are very clean and interesting! We then made our way to the Risata, refreshing ourselves with some cool face cloths and a cold water on the way back. On arrival my friend and I enjoyed a lovely buffet breakfast, and then onto the cooking area! It was a very special set up for just my friend and I, we felt like we were on Master-chef! Chef Linda had her own table and ingredients, and we had exactly the same at our table. We mirrored what she did and followed her delicious recipes this way, with much guidance and patience on Linda's behalf! We had an absolute ball making 2 different curry pastes from scratch, and then making some wonderful recipes with those pastes. There was a small army of assistants to take away our dirty plates and dishes. We felt very special!! We then sat in the dining area at the hotel and enjoyed our cooking feast with our families who had arrived by then. A half hour massage was also included, which we enjoyed very much in the spa at the Risata. On leaving we were given our aprons and a certificate and photo, and also a recipe book of all the things we had cooked. Linda and Flower speak excellent English, and we felt very safe and comfortable the entire time. We had some great conversations about local food and traditions as well. This experience went from 7.30am in the morning until around 12 noon, plus the half hour massage, we thought it was very good value (I think it was about $80 USD)

We stayed in Risata for 2 weeks and would recommend this hotel to all who would like to be close but not in the center of Kuta (resort is in Tuban, south part of Kuta).

There is cca 25 minute walk to the very center of Kuta and on the way you pass lots of restaurants, banks to exchange money, Kuta art centre and Discovery mall if you want to do some shopping. Resort is also very close to the airport but no noise from airport is heard.

Staff are very helpful and polite, accommodation was great and we particularly liked the fact that rooms are in small houses surrounded by lush vegetation instead of big concrete buildings. Room was spacious enough and clean (rooms are cleaned every day).
Breakfast is in an open terrace overlooking the pool and there was enough variety to choose from each day including some Balinese dishes.

SPA in the resort was good and we had a really good massage, although when compared to SPAs in Ubud it was more expensive. Guess this is the price of being in Kuta area.

On our last day considering our flight was in the evening and we had to check out until noon, we were told we could use the shower in the SPA for free just to freshen up before going to the airport, which we thought was a nice touch.

Only down side to the resort in our opinion was the internet with which we had problems logging into (free internet is only available in the lobby) and it was a bit slow.

There is a great little Indonesian/Chinese restaurant in the same street which we only discovered a few day before leaving (Warung Segarr) but would highly recommend (big portions, affordable and fresh food).

We recently spent a lovely relaxing week at the Risata. We couldn't fault the resort for value for money, relaxed atmosphere & above all, the hospitality of all of the staff. I travelled with my 14yr old & 3yr old and both of them instantly felt right at home. The rooms were very comfortable, the gardens were stunning and the pool area amazing. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this to anyone and look forward to returning one day. I miss my daily omelette for breakfast ;). The chef was amazing. Thank you Risata!!!
