“Beautiful Lodge with Amazing Mountain View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2011

We stayed at the Sierra Mountain Lodge for 4 nights while we visited Yosemite National Park and Rafted on the Merced River. We stayed in the Sterling suite which was beautiful, we enquired about a different room but it was reserved by someone else at the last minute so they upgraded us for free to their most expensive suite. The suite was huge with the kitchen, bathroom and lounge downstairs and a giant mezzanine bedroom on the upper floor.

The owners Brenda and John are lovely and helped us plan our trip around the park. Breakfast is great and the views of the mountains are stunning. The lodge is in the middle of nowhere but Oakhurst is only about 15 minutes away.

We visited this lodge initially based on an offer on Bedandbreakfast.com that was hard to resist and supported by the great Tripadvisor reviews, and we weren't disappointed. The location is nicely secluded but close enough to Oakhurst to go for dinner. It's near the Wawona Yosemite entrance so there's quite a few places to hike and wander around that aren't very far away. Yosemite valley was an hour and a half away going by either entrance, since this is the time of year they do road repair. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was quite good. If we were going to be there for much longer, however, it would be nice to have a bit more variety of the main course. The room was quite large with a king sized bed. It had three non-adjustable heaters that you could individually turn either on or off, and a gas wall heater that did have a thermostat. Since the bed was in an upstairs loft, with somewhat limited air circulation, it was a bit of a challenge to cool it down at night as much as we like. Overall our stay was very comfortable and relaxing and I'd definitely recommend it to others, and we'll probably return again ourselves.

This was our second time at Sierra Mountain Lodge and still enjoy going just to relax and see the amazing sceneries. SUPER nice innkeepers, helpful & friendly. Always go out of their ways to help. Cabin was recommended by family member & we are planning to returned next year.

We stayed 3 nights in a 2BR, 1 Bath suite in June 2010. I really enjoyed the check in process - we were provided a code to be used to unlock a box holding our room key. It was great to not have to be there at a certain time and go through a check in process, expecially because we arrived quite late and just wanted to take a shower and go to bed.

The unit was very clean and the furnishings in the room were nice and comfortable. The king size bed in our suite was lovely, and it was nice for my daughter to have her own room. There was lots of room for all of our suitcases and plenty of large, fluffy bath linens for the 3 of us.

Breakfast was nice each morning and my daughter loved the pancakes and sausages. John and Brenda were very nice and friendly, gave us lots of information about the area, suggestions on where to eat dinner, and we even made friends with their cat who would follow us into our room when came home in the evening. The lobby was also stocked with a nice DVD movie library that you could borrow from if you wanted to watch a movie at night.

The only downside was the distance from the B&B to the main gate at Yosemite, but it was a shorter drive from the B&B up to Glacier Point. Also, the walls seemed a little thin, and we had some loud neighbors next door. Luckily, I always travel with ear plugs, but this could have been an issue if I didn't have them.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend this B&B to anyone staying in the area.

My husband and I stayed in the Rose Suite with our two teenagers. It was the perfect arrangement for us. Private bedroom and loft bedroom on the second floor and sofas in the living room. After spending days in small hotel rooms, it was great to be able to spread out. We loved the privacy of our own unit, but with the benefits of a B & B. There is a microwave, full size refrigerator, and bar-sized sink (no oven, no inside cooking) in the kitchen with a dining table. The shared BBQ is near the parking lot. The breakfast was excellent and consistent in quality (pancakes, sausage, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, boiled eggs, etc.), and items were frequently refreshed. Brenda and John were extremely knowledgeable about the area and recommended the northern route into Yosemite that no doubt saved us hours of sitting in traffic on gravel roads under construction. Even though all the units were full, most of the time it seemed like we had the place to ourselves. I enjoyed sitting on the porch looking at the mountains in the distance. The porch was built around a large tree giving it a treehouse-like feeling. The lobby is full of interesting items—I particularly liked flipping through a 1950 Sunset magazine. The rooms are furnished comfortably with nice attention to detail and theme. The location is great for getting to Yosemite, and modern conveniences are a short drive away in Oakhurst. I found the other reviews here helpful and accurate, as was the lodge's website. Our stay exceeded my expections.

We stayed here for two nights as we wanted to visit Yoemite - I just wish it could have been longer !
The suite was very comfortable with two bedrooms - one on a mezzanine floor above the living room. They were very comfortable with large beds and pretty furnishings.
Downstairs was a living room and a kitchen with fridge and microwave.there was also a lovely clean bathroom.
There were ceiling fans and air conditioning which were needed in the 100 degree heat while we were there.
There is a lovely wild garden with lots of trees and a barbeque area. I walked around and saw plenty of wildlife including hares and lots of birds.
John is an excellent host and will answer any questions about the area and help you to plan your day.He also provided very tasty breakfasts.
I just wish we could have stayed longer !

My wife and I stayed here for three nights at the end of May whilst visiting Yosemite and we highly recommend both the Lodge and John and Brenda, the Innkeepers. We stayed in the Oak Suite which was very spacious and very comfortable. It had seperate sleeping and living areas as well as a kitchen and dining area. The lodge is is in a quiet, peaceful setting and we found it very romantic which is exactly what we were looking for. John is very knowledgable about the surrounding area and both him and Brenda made us feel at home from the moment we met them. Yosemite is an amazing place and lived up to all the positive reviews that I had read, the snow on our first day there added to the atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed everywhere we visited on our three week tour of California but this was one of the highlights and the Sierra Mountain Lodge played a significant part in that.
