“Camping Experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2010

I had stayed at this hotel in September of 2009. I am only writing a review now as I was searching hotels on Trip Advisor for another vacation. I wanted to comment on a few concerns with this hotel. It was very much so like a camping experience. The cabana is a canvas tent that unfortunately does not stay cool. The AC can run all day long and it will still be very warm. The only time it was comfortable was after the sun went down. The canvas walls had let the cool air escape. Also, the room was not very clean. The bathroom had stains on the walls and near the sink. The shower stall is very tight and shower curtain was also dirty. The room features a table and chairs for eating and a futon with coffee table. There were bins under the bed for storing clothes as the closet was on the smaller side. This made the room have a very college dorm like feel.

We had ordered room service during our stay. The room service food was not good and came in Styrofoam containers with plastic utensils (like ordering takeout). We also ordered a bottle of wine and received plastic cups (not very fancy). The only reason why I mention this is because it is not cheap.

Pros: The hotel is in a good location. The cabana sits right on the water and there is a balcony in your room where you can sit and relax. The views are quite beautiful. You can walk down to a small beach area but there is a lot of seaweed that washes up on the shore. They also have a sports facility on the grounds where you can rent a kayak or snorkeling equipment etc. They have a restaurant and bar at the hotel and I believe breakfast was included in our rate. It was a breakfast buffet. They also have a free business center to check your email.

I work for a hotel in NYC so I try to look at all the aspects relating to overall value. Do to the lack of cleanliness and the discomfort from lack of AC, I would have to say it was not worth the price and I unfortunately would not return. It did however have beautiful views as it sat right on the water and the sunset was unbelievable.

My husband and I traveled to 9 Beaches resort with plans to get out and see everything in Bermuda. We are not big "resort" people so we didn't expect to have so much to do right there at 9 beaches! Our first few days were spend snorkeling and kayaking right outside our Cabana. We spent the afternoons relaxing at Dark and Stormy's and the evenings at the restaurant. The staff was wonderful and coordinated scooter rentals, trips to Dockyard and anything else we asked for. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to all my friends!

My husband and I celebrated his 60th birthday with a long weekend at 9 Beaches.

We had a fantastic stay! Room was very comfortable and view was out of this world.

Service was warm and helpful. Food was good. Beaches were amazing and we snorkeled right off the beach steps from our room. We'd like to come back for a longer stay sometime soon.

After some hesitation and endlessly reading the reviews of others, we decided to judge for ourselves regarding 9 Beaches for a long Thanksgiving weekend... Bottom Line: WE LIKED IT!

We stayed in the "Sunset" category of cabanas- #49 (Aqua Vista) right next to the Top Banana cabanas to the left and our very own Flip Flop Beach to the right. Would recommend this cabana (HIGHLY!) and all of the cabins in the higher numbers (near/on "The Point"). THE VIEWS WERE AMAZING!! OMG!!! The varying shades of torquoise waters, the amazing sunsets right from your balcony... this alone is worth the trip. (Side note: it was VERY WINDY 2 nights we were there and that does make for some VERY NOISY conditions so close to the water-- & to be honest we didnt sleep a wink--but hey, you're on vacation--take a nap the next day!) Also note, YES, there is a smell and while the weather was cooler when we went and it wasnt really a factor for us, I would imagine in the warmer/hot summer you would want to STAY AWAY from the (lower numbered) cabanas near the entrance ("Boondocks" location, incl)!!

The cabanas were simple, nice and clean (although, I must tell you-we did encounter 2 large sized cockroaches! EHH!), There were robes and nice soap/lotions provided. The mini fridge was great, as we did take the 10 minute walk to the grocery store to stock up on snacks, candy, beer (about $11 for a six pack, verses $6.50 PER BEER on the resort grounds), etc. Make a trip to the store and you WILL save some money!

The breakfasts were delicious (bacon, eggs, made to order waffles, croissants, yogurt, fresh delicious fruit, bread, etc) The dinners were DELICIOUS as well. We loved the cell phone provided at arrival and did call A La Carte service. Let me give you an idea of the prices: On the A La Carte (room service) menu, burgers were $14, add Fries for $4, Pizzas were $18, Hot Wings (for 6) $15. (Know that for all meals everywhere the 15% gratutuity IS ALREADY ADDED.) Dark N Stormys was closed, so we ate at Ums Ums for dinner each night. One night we had a DELICIOUS steak dinner (w/ veggie medley and few small potatoes) it was $30 (NOT including any starters or deserts/drinks.) There were 2 different 'happy hour' events in the day: Half price drinks earlier in the day and then from 5-7pm $3 drinks which were of good quality and we enjoyed right before dinner.

This was our first trip without TV, and we did just fine with games, books, magazines and exploring all 9 of the beaches (our fave: SMUGGLERS COVE! OMG! Beautiful!) There is a small gym and game room (air hockey and ping pong lovers alert!) in the "Boondocks" area (your room key opens the door) and if you must...there IS a room with TV and internet (as well as some books to browse and borrow). My husband had to watch Sunday night football!

Our favorite staff member (they were all nice) was CAROL ANN! So so funny, she made going to breakfast (and dinner) a delight! WE LOVED YOU CAROL ANN!!!!

We utilized the $5 mini bus and that was an adventure (LOL). Went to Salt Rock for dinner one night. It seems to specialize in Sushi ( DO NOT order the pasta there...not very tasty and not worth the money--the hot wings were delicious, though)

All in all, I'm glad we finally experienced 9 Beaches. As long as you do your research and know what to expect, if its for you, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! Its a place you'll have to visit- even if its only just once in your life. GO!

If you look for flat screen TV and marble reception go somewhere else, but if you want to watch the sun set into the ocean from your balcony and fall alseep to the sound of the waves beneath your cabin than this is it. It was a fantastic experience. The small beaches were very private, nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and more than usually helpful in every way. It is not a luxury hotel, more of a close to nature experience, very relaxing and beautiful. We would go back anytime!

From the minute we arrived at 9Beaches we felt at home. All our worries about if we'd made the right choice to come here were dispelled. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were plentiful, the room while simple has everything you need and is clean and airy, great mattress, hot shower. (I could see ithe room being very hot in summer though). A terrace facing the water to sit out at night or do yoga at sunrise was inspiring. The walk to catch the bus or go to market is easy. Beaches were small, clean & lovely. Gorgeous sunsets. Stay in rooms over #30 for good location. Be aware, the tree frogs at night are LOUD! Nothing music can't drown out.Dinners are ok but we're from NY and are used to great food. We are in pretty good shape for 52 & 62, but If you are not fairly fit (have trouble walking) or if you are used to an upscale hotel choose differently. However if you want to unwind in a casual beautiful spot, and still be able to explore the Island easily you couldn't do better. We can't wait to go back.

This was our 3rd year staying at 9 Beaches and and we're set for Sept of 2010! Staff is friendly and the onsite food is good. The "rooms" are soft sided cabins and on piers. They are not for the people who crave luxury but are comfortable and have small air conditioning units in case the island breezes aren't enough. Many things to do and scooters are easy to get to. The Paridise Piers are great and the fish and sun rise/sets are great. If you need to unwind....this IS the place. The TV is at main building or activity building . Your given a cell phone for use on island during your stay. Close to Naval Dockyard The Country Squire Tavern, great enjoyment.
