Let me start by saying, it was the most relaxing wedding I have ever been to and I am glad it was my own. 9 Beaches is BEAUTIFUL.
We arrived on the 7th and were taken to our cabana over the water, where we immediatley put on our bathing suits and went to the water. Yes, in the afternoon the cabana's are hot. Ours was about 95 degrees when we opened the door, but it was also the hottest day of the year and there was no wind. As the days went by we realized that you have to turn off the A/C in the morning and open all of the windows and prop open the doors. Leave some of the blinds down. The breeze blows though and it never gets above 80. At night if you like, close all the windows except for the one beside the A/C, it pools air from the room to cool (the breeze helps it stay cold.) Now that you know how to cool off your room I can tell you about the service.
We thought the food was good but it was a little slow. We were never in a hurry though and we have been to other countries where the people work on their own time frame. Not like the U.S. at all, where everyone is in a rush and has to have everything Right Now. The people are very nice and if you get on their good side they will even run errands for you. For example: My sister and brother in-law had just come back from the store but had forgot their cigarettes. They asked the front desk if they sold them...the answer was no but one of the golfcart drivers said he would run to the store for them. Now if that is not above and beyond service I don't know what is. And all it takes to get on their good side is a smile, a good morning, and friendliness. If you come in to the resort and you are a grump and you are ugly to them and they get the impression that nothing they do will make you happy, then why should they try. They realize that the resort is not for everyone and there will be people that they can't make happy. My advice is treat them how you want to be treated. A little friendliness goes a long way. The taxi drivers are very nice and are more than willing to give you info. Now when you first get there, if your from the U.S., the driving may seem a little crazy but it works for them. When you plan your day outside the resort do it in advance and get a ferry and bus guide. Unless you are taking a taxi your day will have to be planned around the mostly the ferry. Which, is the fastest way to travel.
Kay-Annie was the wedding planner and she is wonderful. She will work with you on anything you wish. It is nice to let go and let someone do it for you, which I am not good at. It turned out to be everything we hoped and dreamed of and more. The resort gives you a relaxing feeling and has a beautiful back gound for pictures.
As far as excusions go we took a Jesse James snorkeling cruise and it turned out to be awesome. They take you to two wrecks, a small beach, a coral reef garden, and glassbottom over another wreck.
For anyone that is looking in to going to 9 Beaches it is for nature lovers; i.e hikers, bikers, campers, the outdoorsy type. If you are one of these you will love it. And remeber not everyone gets to explore other counties and places. BE THANKFUL
