“Fantastic!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

One of our excursions was cancelled due to weather during our last visit to Bermuda so we took the refund and ended up at The Frog and Onion Pub. I was blown away. The food was great, the drinks were amazing and the wait staff was friendly and very attentive.

“Great Atmosphere - Food is Fine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Food was fine - nothing spectacular but certainly not terrible. Prices were okay. Worth visiting just for the building

“Worth a visit when in the Dockyard, but I hope the Cruise ships are not in for you also.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

The Frog and Onion get a big thumbs up from me for the sole reason that it is a brew pub with its own beer, that means you can get something different to drink from the ubiquitous Boddingtons, Guinness and Samual Adams.
And the Craft beers are good, although served initially too cold because they are put through the same chiller as all the fizzy imported stuff. But the Trunk Island IPA and the Black Anchor Porter are very good pints if you give them the time to warm up so that you can taste the flavour, especially the Porter.
The pub itself is a housed in a decent building and is overall a large space having a large bar area with screen for the sport, two rooms for dining, the larger Coopers room having a magnificent original stone fire place, and then a couple of outside seating areas for better weather days than the one on which we visited. And then to the back of the pub was a very large games room.
It’s obviously tailored towards stripping every dollar it can from the cruise ship hoards when they are in, but in that respect it’s no more expensive than other equivalent places on the island e.g. it was as wallet busting expensive as everywhere else on Bermuda.
The food menu is standard pub stuff with fish & Chips , Burgers, salads and Pies and the mains we tried were on a par in quality and quantity with other locations with the possible exception of the Beef & Black Anchor Ale Pie, which was actually quite good as pies go.
Couldn’t fault the service for our visit , but then there were very few of us visiting on the lunchtime we were in and I can well imagine it could be a different story when the cruise ship hoards arrive

“Something fishy going on”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

So we got our bill and it had the other tables lunch included. This does not happen on its own but waitress poltely took off the extra soups, burgers, etc. and brought back my much more reasonable bill-----until I checked my credit card & saw I was double charged but they cleverly billed once under Frog & Onion and once under Pub Crawl. The crooks were going to over bill me one way or the other. BEWARE!

Dear Lulubirdy,

As you will be aware we just responding to you personally to address this situation; however due to your accusatory language (which quite frankly verges on libelous) feel we also must publish our response publicly. If you feel you were inappropriately billed for something, there are numerous mechanisms in place to ensure you are billed what is right and correct. Have you disputed the charge with your card issuer? We received an email from you late yesterday, and started an internal investigation, and once complete will respond appropriately and completely to you. Our reputation in Bermuda and throughout the world is far to valuable to squander on an issue like this, and we are offended to have been impugned in your post in such a manner. If we have somehow made a mistake we do request some notice to resolve it. As the operator of five restaurants in Bermuda, and as long term members of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, we take great pride in our operation and hard won reputation. We await your documentation, or your card issuers request for further information, which one would think is the PROPER way to go about resolving your complaint.

We remain yours truthfully,

Philip Barnett, President.

“Good Pub Experience at F & O”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

We had lunch here last week during our visit to Dockyards. The weather was cold and blustery so the cosy atmosphere of the Frog and Onion was welcome. Service was excellent and the cooperage room with it's huge hearth is dramatic and spacious. The food (fish sandwich and BLT) was standard pub fare, unfortunately not quite as good as we had in some of the other mid price range island restaurants but it was filling and satisfactory. Had a Dockyards Porter, it was served too cold but after it warmed up the flavour was good. I enjoyed the other other Dockyards brews as well.

Our overall experience was good, a little improvement in the food would move things up to excellent.
