Very comprehensive historical presentation of battles and the history of the dockyard with rooms presented in the Commissioners House with authentic furniture of the historical periods discussed.

“Excellent Overview Of Bermuda History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

If you and your touring party have a limited time to visit this island than this historic site in my personal opinio is worth the appproximately two hours it will take to properly visit this site. It focus on its paast as both an important naval port to th British plus for trading purposes with other nations around the world. It was not only a fort but severed as a living aarrangements for a high ranking British offical. Besides walking the grounds to get a sense of history but tour the various buildings as well. It covers the use of hydro, their sailing history, slavery, money, stamps but the everyday life of the people that lived under British rule for many centuries. In my personal opinion, it is worth the 10 dollar US money admission price. I like history so taking this walking tour with a friend of mine from the USA was certainly worth it in educating myself about this island of 67,000 people.

“Living museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

As the other reviewers have said, the museum has tremendous views...if you think you are going here for a dry history lesson you would be wrong. This is a living museum. You can walk around the large grounds area and take in panoramic views of Bermuda from the hilltop. I liked watching the black and white sheep who keep the grass short. If you are wandering around the dockyard area, take the time to do this.

“Great opporuntity to learn about Bermuda' maritime history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Great museum with lots of interesting exhibits. The grounds are historical as well and offer great views. The only downside if the heat and stuffiness inside the main building...... it was about 85 degrees outside and nearly unbearable inside. Other buildings and the basement area were much cooler. A small entrance fee is required but well worth the expense.

“Interesting and beautiful views as well!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

We have been to Bermuda numerous times, but had never visited the museum and grounds. The museum was very interesting, and we loved walking around the fort grounds. There were a group of goats that were fun to watch following their caretaker to the barn. You are also able to view the dolphin discovery area (swim with the poor creatures). I hate captive dolphins being kept for our entertainment. There was also a very large Leatherback Turtle being held in a very small enclosure. Enough of that.....In any event, the museum and grounds are a good take. Watch out for loads of goat droppings!
