“So much to see.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

This museum offers so much, we spent the better part of our afternoon. The Commissioners house is three floors of wonderful exhibits, the walk around the canons overlooking the beautful harbor is breathtaking. We entered the Dolphin Quest as a group of school children were interacting with the dolphins...what fun and great photo op. Great value for money.

“Top Museum. Thoroughly recommended visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

This is a very good museum made up of several component parts set in the grounds of the former Casemate Barracks and its adjacent buildings.
One of the most interesting parts is the restored Commissioner’s House, set over three floors. We made a bit of a mistake and left it till last and ran out of time to see it all as we were not prepared for how much interesting stuff was in there and in the end the museum staff had to finish up chasing us out at closing time. So my advice would be leave plenty of time or do this first.
As a taster, it houses very good historical exhibits including the slavery exhibit and a very good collection of old coins and old Bermudan bank notes. But one of the most surprisingly interesting bits is the newish Grand mural by local artist Graham Foster that now adorns the walls of the main stair case. We spent 30 minutes here alone staring at all the represented aspects of Bermudan history and life.
The Maritime Museum is constantly being upgraded and one of the newer sections is the Shipwreck Island exhibit housed in the Queen's Exhibition Hall on the lower grounds of the Dockyard Keep. Again if your into pirates and stuff from shipwrecks 20 minutes could disappear in here alone.
Then there is the Prisoners in Paradise exhibit in the ammunition High Cave Magazine in the grounds and all this even before you explore all the ramparts and get all the views from the multitude of canons and fortifications, and sneak a look at the Dolphins going through their paces in the Dolphin experience.
On an island where a beer costs $8.50, a $10 entry ticket for all this history is a complete steal.

“Lots to see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

The museum is quite large and you can easily spend a few hours wandering around. There are many different buildings setup with exhibits. The Commissioner's house has particularly interesting exhibits. Three floors worth! There are beautiful views from the top area of the fort. Definitely worth a visit.

“Don't Miss It”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Located at the Dockyards, I was pleasantly surprised at how well-done this museum is. You can walk the grounds of the old fort - old cannons, etc - a herd of goats rule the area, so mind your step as you walk the grass and be sure to close the sheep gate if you head up to the grounds that way. The Commissioner's House houses a fantastic war museum, incredible mural, and other fascinating Bermuda historical facts. Several of the other buildings on the property house other types of historical information all presented with considerable detail. The museum grounds is also the location of the Dolphin Quest which I did not participate in or watch - there is a small dolphin related gift ship near the Quest area.
