“Wonderful Stay at Grotto Bay - July 2013”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Sincere thanks to all of the staff at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort for making our recent stay so memorable.

From the first day to the last, the level of service that we received from all of the staff that we came into contact with was superb.

The quality of food and its presentation was of a high standard and our Hotel room (216) was most comfortable and kept spotlessly clean.

The staff obviously have great pride in their respective jobs and were always immaculately presented in their smart hotel uniforms.

All of the above contributed to a wonderful holiday experience for myself and my wife and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Grotto Bay to our friends and family.

Please can you pass our best wishes and thanks onto your respective team leaders and we hope to see you again sometime in the not too distant future.

Peter & Marian Guarino
Jersey C.I

Ps
We have travelled extensively throughout Europe over many years and the level of service at this particular resort and indeed Bermuda as a whole would put many places in Britain & Europe to shame !!

Well done all, 2 very satisfied holiday makers

Room Tip: Facing the bay to the north

My family and I just returned from the best family vacation ever! We traveled with our two daughters, ages 20 and 8 and I must say they both loved it. The property is exceptional and the service, great. You must take advantage of the cave on the grounds and take a swim. It is a once and a lifetime opportunity. We went all inclusive and so happy we did. The drinks were fabulous. You must try the swizzle, the Simone surprise and the dark and stormy! All very nice. The meal plan very selective and sure to please everyone. The hotel staff are all warm and welcoming. Esme, Victor, Christian, Wayne and of course the GM, Clyde Darryl went above and beyond our expectations in making sure our stay would be a memorable one. Well that goes without saying, we will remember our stay at Groto Bay for a lifetime!

Room Tip: Room 620 has a beautiful view!

I had an ocean view and the view was stunning. It was a short walk to the reception and restaurant area. The room was clean and comfortable, if a bit dated. The housekeeping staff did a great job every day. There was a refrigerator in the room, but it was empty. All-inclusive packages generally come with some alcohol, sodas and water provided in the room. Nothing here. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The pool and beach are beautiful, and the staff in all areas of the property is fantastic. They are always friendly, polite and very helpful. The hotel provides a bus/ferry pass at no charge with the all-inclusive package which makes getting around the island easy. My biggest disappointment as the restaurants. Breakfast was a buffet, and the gentleman making omelets does a fantastic job. Lunch is ordered from a menu, as is dinner. There are two dinner restaurants; reservations are required. This makes it more difficult to enjoy a day, because you have to be back at a specific time. One restaurant is less casual. We were not prepared for this, so we ate in the same restaurant every night. That got a little old. The food is alright, but nothing special. Frozen drinks are not included in all-inclusive packages. This was also disappointing. Overall, we had a great time at a pretty hotel.

Room Tip: The resort is on the side of a hill. If you have problems walking stairs and up hills, this might n...

This is my 5th trip to BDA and 4th time staying at Grotto Bay. They have updated some of the rooms (bed & bath) which was a nice surprise. The people continue to be incredibly friendly - thanks to James, Afonso, Lencia & Christian for making our trip so great. While the beach is still a little small, the water is beautiful and the fish feeding is always a kick. Be ready to walk up and down stairs but that helped to walk off some of the calories from the meals. We did not try or check out the new spa. Looking forward to our trip back next year!

Room Tip: We stayed in the St David unit. Lower level room, on far side of building. Was near the causeway, b...

Nice hotel with recently-renovated bathrooms. Staff are outstanding!!! Location is convenient to the airport, but the beach on Bailey's Bay is a wonderful white sand beach with calm, warm bay waters and a water slide & trampoline (not included unless your package is all-inclusive!) in the water for the kids. Water sports are available, pay as you go (unless AI). Explore the grottoes and spa down by the beach.

We were there many, many years ago, but my husband and I loved it. We traveled a bit off season, so the swim up bar was not open. However, the food was excellent - - I still remember the Red Snapper.
(Upon reflection, I guess we really did love it as our older son was born 9 months later . . .)

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Grotto last week. It was our first time to Bermuda. Although we planned this late, many of the large hotels were booked. TRIPADVISOR promoted this hotel as a "romantic hotel". It is not. Do not get me wrong, the staff could not have been friendlier ... from the front desk to Richard on the beach. But this hotel is an "all-inclusive" option hotel. So the place was mainly families and boozing adults. The beach was puny, small, tiny, thin, and as crowded as a jersey beach on Labor Day!. There were several small children running around naked and coors light cans littering the beach.
ok, I understand that some may be reading this and thinking ... "snob"! I do apologize but I assure you, we are not. We were looking for a nice 4 day respite and the hotel, which we thought was a romantic grotto, simply was not. So be weary of some of the "designations" of this site. I always look at Tripadvisor for every trip. This is THE exception as this site has always been spot on.
The rooms are nothing more than a motel room and we even woke up on day two to find a pair of panties next to our deck. There was rooster running around the grounds waking us up like a Marine Sgt. at 6 am!!! And the Palmetto bugs .... too many!
Now for the good things about the resort. (if you are still reading). The staff was amazing! So nice and so helpful. The spa in the caves is awesome. It is an experience you will never forget. The vista is pretty but you must look left because looking right gives you a perfect view of airplanes landing at the airport. (airport is 5 minutes away). The breakfast and restaurants are very good.
If you are going with a family ... this place seems like a great time for kids and family time. If you are going as a couple .... find another place.
