“Intimate and warm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

We went a la Casa Grande during during the fair CPHi, at the Feria de Madrid. We did not want to stay in a big hotel chain, willing to have a more intimate place. We choose Casa Grande (10mn from the Feria de Madrid by taxi easily available) and we really did not regret it. The checking was so warm and welcome, the place (old castle in the middle of the city) is amazingly old and huge and the decoration is well preserve. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, bathroom are perfect. The service is great, we ask the breakfast is the room every morning and it was serve on a nice trolley. The service is excellent in the hotel. We had dinner twice there and I must say that it was very good and authentic.
After the big days at the Feria, la Casa grande gives you a good feeling...to recover. The city centre is very close and we had a nice walk around the city.
We will definitely recommend la Casa grande and will come there again.

Room Tip: There are only 8 rooms and one is a suite, all the rooms looks the same, they are actually in the la...

1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2011

Very disappointed, booked for 4 nights and left after one
Ugly, dusty and dirty
No lift and rooms are on the top floor
Bizarre furnishings, no windows just a skylight, noisy air-con
Old bed and a sticky carpet (kept my shoes on)
There was a garden inside the room and the bathroom with real soil and plastic plants - plastic...!
Hotel is in the middle of a very run-down housing estate
Breakfast was a disgrace
Whoever wrote the other good review was on drugs

This place is so old, and so nicely redone, and so well kept, I was surprised and my wife was impressed. There are skylights in the room and in the bathroom that you can open, the bed was excellent, the breakfast buffet was really well done. There are lots of stairs to negotiate, and no elevator, so be prepared to haul your bags a little! Each room you walk through from the front desk to your bedroom is historic, large and well decorated: statues, paintings, ornate mirrors, swords, suits of armor, draperies, all that. From the hotel it is easy to get onto the A-2 and into Madrid or to the airport.
