We along with friends travelled to San Lorenzo for a wedding. The Wedding was to be on the Saturday evening and we arrived on the previous Wednesday our intention was to relax and chill out before and after the wedding. We and another couple arrived there around 9pm. We had each booked a superior room. Our friends had room no 21. This had 3 full length windows, a large balcony & separate bath room, it was very light and airy. We were given room no 31. This had a window in the eves, it was very dark, the bath was inside the bedroom and was surrounded by an uneven paved stone floor, the toilet was also clad all over with the same stone paving. Only one light worked. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in either room and the bed was VERY HARD.. We were all very tired, our friends retired to bed and we requested a change of room. This was a little difficult as the receptionist (who was a lovely girl who did her best to accomodate us) spoke very limited English. The next day we were up quite early - having been unable to sleep, in the light of day the room was still very dark and depressing, there was no easy chair. We walked around the grounds which were lovely, however there was no comfortable sitting area in the grounds or inside the hotel.
We spoke again to Reception, another lovely young lady who this time spoke a little English, she advised that there were no other rooms available but that they would arrange for a further bed to be put in the room. We were shown the replacement bed & mattress which was no improvement on the first and declined the offer. Not wishing to spend 5 days and nights in a dark depressing room with an uncomfortable bed, no easy chair and no view and no where to relax we decided to move to another hotel. There is a lift at the hotel however there are a lot of steep steps so would not recommend to people with walking difficulties.
