Blakes has become a regular stopping spot whether we are traveling through, looking for a family meal, or out as a couple.
I love meat and Blakes has it. Their prime rib is some of the best I've ever had and they offer a choice of splendid side dishes. A salad and baked potato are good but they also have au graten potatoes, fried squash, and much more.
The steaks are great, they do tend to slightly overcook so be aware when you order. They also have chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken, and a good selection of fried seafood. They keep their oil fresh and HOT so everything comes out crisp, not greasy.
Now if you are looking for lunch, may we suggest any one of the selection of 1/2 pound hamburgers. They have the taste of a well seasoned grill and come with a large serving of very good fries.
The kids menu pleases even the pickiest eater with a wide variety and if your kid eats it all, the meal comes with a scoop of vanilla or chocolate ice cream.
Blakes is an old fashioned country style restaurant. The floor is old wood covered with a heavy black coating. The walls and ceilings show the building is very old. The country music is a little to loud. But I can promise you, even grandma and grandpa will like it (we do and we are proud grandparents). The bathrooms are very tiny and as rough as the rest of the building but they have always been clean. The only problem we ever have is parking. This place is loved and it is busy.
We highly recommend Blakes.
