You would say that is easy to find a good pasta dish. Not in Athens! Mezzaluna is a rare exception: nice food, very good prices, consistent, with no (bad) surprises.
We are regulars at Mezzaluna in Golden Hall. We find the location very convenient, although the atmosphere is not exceptional. We are going there for the pasta: tomato and basil, alio olio and pesto are our favorites. The salads are also very good and always fresh. From the appetizers I would recommend the beef carpaccio and the grilled pleurotus mushrooms.
The place is crowded on Saturdays around lunch time, more calm in the afternoon and evening. We prefer the weekdays for an early, after-office dinner.
Beware: The bread basket is overpriced: Although the olive oil that comes with is very good, the bread rolls are the cheapest, low quality frozen rolls served in very many places. We are refusing the bread basket; we prefer to spend our 5 euros elsewhere.
Mezzaluna in Vouliagmeni is a very pleasant place, perfect for a romantic summer evening that will not cost you an arm and a leg. Exactly the same good quality of food here but the service comes with an attitude, which we do not appreciate. It is perhaps adapted to the “upper class” location and clientele?
Overall, highly recommended for a very good, not overpriced pasta dinner, even for special occasions (the place in Vouliagmeni). You will not be disappointed.
