“staff tried hard”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

I stayed here to be near airport. It is twenty five euros in taxi from hotel to airport. Staff tried hard and were polite. The only place to eat in hotel in evening is the bar which is grim. Note to hotal - please change the carpet and redecorate in more cheerful colours! The breakfast in morning is 17 euros. There is no outside space at this hotel.

If you go through the doors of the hotel and go forwards and left there is immediately a gas station with restaurant where you can sit outside. We got 2 burgers, 2 small doughnuts and 2 drinks for ten euros.

My husband and I stayed here for one night after a lovely couple of weeks in Greece. Check in was easy and the room was very comfortable. After dropping off our luggage and freshening up we took the X95 bus, 5 Euro to Syntagma Square ( about 20 minutes away) and to the Plaka to see the new Acropolis Museum and have a bite to eat. We enjoyed the sites for a few hours and then hopped back on the bus to go back to the hotel.
Our flight was early in the morning so we arranged a wake up call, showered
and had a good nights sleep. (Very comfortable bed) The room also had free wifi. The free shuttle showed up to pick us up right on time and we were off to the airport.. (10 minutes) I would say this hotel is a good choice for a stay near the airport. 120 Euro

I would recommend that you either spend more time to get into town and find a cheaper hotel of better quality or spend more money and stay at the airport (Sofihotel). This is right in the middle (location-wise) but terrible in most aspects.

Finding the shuttle did not happen for us either. Information at the airport told us to wait outside of door 5 which we did, knowing that it ran every hour we sat for 45 minutes only to see the shuttle drive right past us 4 lanes over and not even blink. We called to ask and the receptionist told us we should have waited in the parking lot (what? where? which lot?) then said we had to wait another hour....then she hung up on us. Why would we wait if it didn't grab us the first time. Cabs are not cheap and that cost 30 euro to get 10 minutes....not cool.

The food is expensive and bland at best. Small portions with not many options available as the hotel is in the middle of nothing. Best suggestion is to check the fast food type spot connected to the gas station as they had the same quality food for a fraction of the price.

The only nice thing I can say is that the internet works, the rooms are clean and the bathrooms are as well. The shower had no shampoo or anything except for a liquid soap of low quality.

Oh, and it looks like Ikea with bright yellow paint and blue.....visually assaulting in my opinion.

I would never stay here again. I would spend more time to get into town or less time and more money to stay at the airport.

Room Tip: check the fast-food type spot at the gas station for same quality food at a fraction of the cost.

This hotel is about 10 to 15 minute taxi ride from the airport, they do offer a bus , but we couldn't find it, and found out later it only runs once an hour. From memory taxi was not that expensive. The rooms are very comfortable and the shower was amazing. We arrived around 7.30pm and had dinner in the restaurant which was not bad. We had to leave in the morning at 4.30 a.m. the next morning to catch our next flight and had no trouble with taxis.
Considering how expensive the hotel across the road is from the hotel the holiday inn was perfect for what we needed it for.
Would highly recommend this property.

We booked here for 1 night as we wanted to be close to the airport during a stopover. There are surprisingly few options near the airport - here and the very expensive Sofitel which is at the airport itself. Holiday Inn is about 10-15mins from the airport and cost us AUD$165 for the night. We were in room # 424 - a lovely large modern room with very comfortable large beds. There was a safe, fridge and a very welcome kettle with complimentary tea/coffee provided (other hotels please take note!) The blockout drapes were electronically controlled (there was a button by the bed). Free wifi and a/c in the room - all very comfortable. The bathroom was large, modern and clean with a bath, shower, bidet and toilet. Plenty of space for toiletries and had lovely thick white towels. The rate (thankfully!) included a pretty good buffet breakfast served until 10.30am. There is also an indoor pool but we didn't use it. Holiday Inn operate a free shuttle service to the airport on an hourly basis and takes approx 10-15mins. Be warned though that the last shuttle from the airport to the hotel leaves at 10pm - unfortunately we just missed it and had to pay Euro 20 for a taxi. The taxi driver was not pleased as he expected to take us right into Athens - they are very grumpy when asked to go shorter distances!
Overall, a very comfortable and convenient option for a stopover but a bit pricy - an excellent alternative to the Sofitel.

Tip - There is a petrol station by the hotel's front entrance. Here you can buy snacks and drinks
(including bottled beer for Euro 1.80) so you don't have to use the expensive inroom
minibar.

If you need to sleep in Athens in between two flights, this hotel is convenient because close to the airport and with free shuttle. but the service is poor and the staff not very welcoming.
bad breakfast.

I recently stayed in the Holiay Inn at Athens, having driven past it many times.
Its far away from Athens City itself, but its great for Airport as there is a free shuttle, a small bakery (Gregorys) and rooms are very comfortable. I have stayed in the Sofitel many times, but for transits at ATH - I would definitely chose Holiday Inn from now on.
