“Glyfada's free beaches!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

There are several free beaches along Glyfada's long seafront!
However, it should be noted these beaches are totally open to the public without entrances, boundaries or facilities other than showers, litter bins and the occasional canteen!
Access is on the flat... No steps!
No umbrellas or sun beds available for rent.
The beaches are pebbles or shingle and are cleaned daily by a grader.
During the high Summer season there are basic Lifeguard Stations during the busy hours of the day!
It should also be noted that along the seafront of Glyfada are 4 Marinas and the beaches fall in between these Marinas.
Access to these beaches is by regular bus, tram or car and all are within easy walking distance of Glyfada centre and Glyfada's hotels.

“A bit of paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

Off of our cruise ship, we asked the staff at Royal Car Rental about a nice beach & he directed us here. We ended up at the end where there were no beach chairs or umbrella's but dressing rooms. It was perfect for us. We had just spent 3 days in ports of Sorrento, Amalfi & Taormina so this off season sparsely populated beach was wonderful. As said in other reviews, the water is so clear & shallow that you can go for awhile without touching bottom. The big problem was we had lost an hour from Italy so had less time to spend here! Hope to go back someday!

“Stunning beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

As soon as you walk down to this beach you are struck by the beauty of it. The bright blue waters against the vast golden sand, all overlooked by the deep green mountains and blue skies.
Its very clean and it was not too busy when we went which was in May 2013 which was lovely, although its so lovely I would imagine it gets very busy during peak times!

The sea was crystal clear and warm, it was wavy when we were there but shallow for along way out which older children will love.

There is the Louis Grand Hotel leading onto the beach which you can buy a drink or snack at even if you are not staying there, plus outside showers to wash sand off you which is helpful!

“Don't bother”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

We had an afternoon and evening between flights at Athens airport , had already seen high points of Acropolis, Acropolis Museum, and Archeological Museum, and were not keen to get into swarm of tourists in Plaka. Sofitel hotel at airport concierge recommended Glyfada. So we took city bus 96X to Glfada for something close to do. Boy, this was a disappointment. The beaches are terrible there- sad. If you have been to US beaches, and the white, clean sands of Florida, this would make you cry. We saw a few people in Oct still swimming, lying on narrow rather small, rocky beach, with litter strewn around. The swimming area was right next to small yacht harbor. It was very quiet almost November 1st and a weekday, but the water just could not have been very clean right by the boats. Apartments look out on busy street. We went in few stores, but nothing much. There is a Byzantine Church that is very beautiful. And found one over-priced restaurant on beach- that was quiet, and nice for lunch, and sitting on terrace to enjoy the water scene. Maybe we missed what else was there, but we didn't see much. we took bus back to airport. Could not find much else there to see or do. It is about 30 min by bus from airport.

“Beautiful and joyful for children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

Glifada Beach is the most beautiful sandy beach on Corfu island. The water is deep blue and the beach is very clean (what mostly isn't the case in Greece), so very safe for children to play. Another advantage is that the water remains undeep even if you go further in the sea. There are attractions to enjoy yourself like beach volley, a banana boat, canoos, jet ski's and so on. Very close to be beach there are several "tabernas" (restaurants) where you can have a cold drink or have something to eat.
The most beautiful thing about the beach here is the sunset, especially in October when the sun sets right in front of you. The sky turns into the most beautiful colours you can imagine, and the color or the water changes from turqouise to deep blue and even black sometimes.
