“Great choice, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014

I loved this hotel, it's location and the pool open to the river are unforgettable. The hotel is closed in the evening and ask when you have to return. Rooms are very small, breakfast long to wait, but I'm missing our time in Flores. It was perfect, no regrets

Clean basic rooms. Had ok wifi reception.
Pool looks not recently cleaned so didn't venture in.
Close to waterfront so nice walk to local area.
Good restaurants within walking distance.
Stayed here as part of a budget tour. Beds are ok not rock hard like other beds in Mexico and Guatemala.
Good for people who are on a cost conscious tour.

Situated on the north end of the island overlooking the lake, with friendly staff. Free WiFi is available on premise and conveniently in room is a plus. Room furnishing is a little dated by clean. Ceiling fan and very noise AC, which dropped my rating by one star.

Right on the water. It's got a pool and a jacuzzi. The staff doesn't speak much English but are very nice. Didn't sleep well because people were drinking and carrying on right outside my room and had to go out at 1 AM and tell them to keep it down, I had to get up at 6 to catch a plane. OK, but not great. Did love looking at the lake though and there's a cute little restaurant next door with great chicken tacos and guacomole!

Room Tip: as far away from the pool as possible unless you like to party...

This hotel by the lake has fabulous views and a great pool. Yes the wifi only works near the reception area and the rooms are basic. But it's quite cheap and well located. Water refills are free but you do need to ask at the reception. Slept really well despite basic rooms. The rooms are kept clean and the shower I had was hot. Enjoyed two nights here

Room Tip: Choose a 3rd floor room for quietness, however no lift so you have to carry your luggage upstairs.

stayed here after Hotel China House in Caye Caulker then Hotel Iguana in San Ignacio, Belize, on a Tucan tour Cancun to Antigua (Guatemala). Both were good but China House has NO elevator. On/off wifi by pool, little crabs walking around, iffy breakfast. Caye Caulker is small. I would not recommend walking alone after dark. We went to a bonfire put on by Jerry & Vito of Ragamuffin tours, with whom we did a snorkeling/catamaran trip which was awesome and swam with whale sharks and had a great fish lunch! Hotel Iguana had a great pool, but a hot 30 min walk from town. You do get to cross over the river, which is a lovely refreshing swim but watch the current.
Sabana has no elevator either, so noisy dragging suitcases up and down the stairs. wifi in lobby, slow little restaurant, rooms small but nice little balcony overlooking the town and laundry across street. Flores quite nice to walk around. The hotel outside of Tikal ruins (can't recall the name) has a stunning pool, great restaurant and dock to the lake to swim in Lake Peten. It's a lovely area.

I was excited to treat myself and spend a little bit more once I got to Flores. I was excited about having wifi and a pool. When I arrived there was only wifi in the reception area, not in my room and not in any of the spaces facing the water. What a disappointment, I wanted to work with a view and could not, When I complained about this the staff couldn't care less.
I asked for a wake up call at 2:30 am to see the Tikal ruins at sunset. They said no problem and I watched them write it down and stick the note on the desk. I NEVER got the call. The guy laughed and said sorry as though it were no big deal! I could have missed the tour and lost out on that money.
I would never stay here again and advise against to any one. The staff was not friendly or helpful. They advertise WIFI when they do not have it. The pool and view were nice, though I do not think the pool was kept up. There are several better and cheaper hotels all around Flores.
