“Not so legendary”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We had heard ongoing raves about the Blue Bonnet for years, about their breakfasts, donuts, pies, etc. Finally we tried it out. Actually everything about our visit to this restaurant with another couple seemed quite ordinary. So, we didn't quite get the "legend" status it seems to have.

“Great place for family meal!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We were pleasantly surprised with the quality and prices at the Bluebonnet Cafe! It was our first time there but if we get back in the area we will definitely go back.
One thing to know .... they do not take credit or checks.

“Consistently Wonderful Comfort Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

When we travel from Dallas to Fredericksburg we take the back route on 281 south so we can stop in Marble Falls at the Blue Bonnet Café! Today we had a full lunch for two with main course, three vegetables and a drink for under $25 inclusive. The pot roast was tender, the chicken fried steak was excellent and the fried okra particularly tasty. On other trips we have tried the wonderful homemade pies with really high meringue topping. The chocolate or coconut pies are our favorite flavors. On the weekends sometimes there is a line out the door but it moves quickly and is worth the wait. If you are by yourself or two in your party you can sit at the counter and not wait in line but you need to ask the hostess if there is room for one or two at the counter.

“Overrated per our visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

The Bluebonet came highly recommended via relatives and Trip Advisor. My wife and I had breakfast there on a Friday. Our greeter reminded me of Lois (Coffee Cup eaters will know what and who i mean). Order taken was good. Order came, wife's Texas Toast was so cold it would not melt her butter. My hash browns were cold and scorched. we sent both back and received hot items. My replacement hash browns were not fully cooked, but were ok. Otherwise the food was ok. The place has easy parking for vehicles, is convenient and seems to have a nice atmosphere. But it was average at best. I would try another place if I visit the town again.

“Needs To Be On Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

This place is awesome. It's always packed, but even with the line out the door, we were seating with in 15 minutes.

It's already been said in one review, but worth repeating...the pot roast is amazing! Everything is so fresh & seasoned to perfection.

Even more amazing than the food are the pies! I really only wanted pie when we went in, but decided to have a BLT first. I didn't eat the potato chips though because I HAD to have room for the coconut cream pie. It was heavenly on a Sunday afternoon.

Bluebonnet Cafe is a very family friendly diner, with very affordable prices. if you can't get enough while you're there, you can take home a whole pie for less than $14!
