“After 2 years of construction, it's open and it's worth the trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2011

This is a great outdoor venue that recognizes the contributions of West Texans to the world of music, including everyone from Buddy Holly to Waylon Jennings to Natalie Maines, to Mac Davis.

Plus it's in the center of the Depot District, the cultural and entertainment hotbed of the city.

“Nothing Special”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2009

This statue is located by a busy street in downtown Lubbock in a bad part of town. There is nothing particularly remarkable about this statue. Sure, it is a very good representation of Buddy Holly. Maybe you should drive by it stop and take a picture. Have someone climb up and take a shot of that. If you're an outdoorsy type though, this is not the place to go. This is very urban, not outdoorsy. Go to McKenzie park for scenery. Heck, there are even some mountain biking trails around there if you're into that. As far as the statue though, it is nothing special, just like everything else in Lubbock.
