“Not so good this time.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

We had to wait for a hostess. She seated us at a table we ask if there was a booth available she told us no, but then went right back the hostess booth and seated the next 2 parties of 2 at booths. We could see the clean empty booths when she told us they were all dirty. Then we waited 5 or more minutes for a waitstaff to wait on us. We finally got our food after the 3 or 4 parties that were seated after us. We eat there at least 2 times a week. The service has really dropped off the last couple of months. Management just seems to stand around, they don't come around and speak to the customers much anymore. Seems like lately you just want to cater to large parties.

Martha,

I am sorry to hear that things were not perfect the last time you came in. I want to personally thank you for making us your dining destination at least twice a week! If you don't already have a VIP card I would love for you to request one the next time you come in for specials and discounts. As you know, we only stay in business by keeping our customers happy and I'm always happy to listen to suggestions on ways to satisfy you and everyone else that walks through the doors. I hope you will give us another chance the next time you need a quick bite to eat for lunch or a relaxing evening of drinks and games. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Brian Curtis,
Service Manager

“Superb TexMex”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Where to start?? With the beginning I suppose. Absolutely fantastic Fried Zucchini--enough for 3-4 people as an appetizer. If you want to go strictly TexMex then start with the Queso Caliente--smooth, creamy and thick. Chips and Salsa always complementary. I love the Beef or Chicken Taco Salad aka "El Grande". My wife agrees with previous reviewer's comments about the Relleno--the best she has ever had! (she is not given to superlatives)..She also loves the "Chicken Cado Salad--always fresh. As for me I can rave about the awesome selection and quality of enchiladas available--mix and match they are all hand prepared and you pick your sauce. When I'm in the mood for comfort food nothing beats a well prepared, hand breaded Chicken-Fried Steak. Lots of those around West Texas, but this one is near the top of the list. These are the favorites for our house, but have tried many of the other offerings and have always been pleased with anything we ordered.
We love to take our grandchildren there (usually their first choice) Great selection of Kid's Meals and a fantastic game room with tickets you can exchange for prizes
. Service is outstanding, even in the busiest times--lots of personal attention from the management staff.
Overall a great experience. If you are a frequent diner at the Caboose, be sure and get a VIP Card. Points and discounts well worth the few seconds it takes to sign up.
I've gotta go now. Lunch Specials at the 50th Street Caboose are calling!

The only place with better than homemade cheese enchiladas. Family friendly atmosphere with reasonable prices, great salsa and queso too! Cleanest restaurant in Lubbock.

“Relleno heaven!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Best rellenos on Earth! Crispy and extra cheesy. Great place for the kids to play (video games where you win tickets and get prizes). Great queso and chips too.
