Description: Real Mexican food is a feast for the senses. From colorful peppers to the sounds of sizzling fajitas all the way to that incredible flavor. Each mouthful is just as much a result of the freshest ingredients as it is a result of the chef's expertise. Abuelo's offers diners the opportunity to experience real Mexican food, combining authentic, made from scratch classic dishes with the rich, subtle flavors of coastal and interior Mexican cuisine. Our executive Chef Luis Sanchez has spent decades perfecting our menu, and we boast a wide selection of wood-grilled fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, chile rellenos or Abuelo's unique House Specialties (depending on your location). To compliment your meal, our expert bartenders are masters at crafting signature favorites, including a wide variety of margaritas and swirls. Whatever the occasion, we'll stop at nothing to make your time at Abuelo's a memorable dining experience.

“This chain is a winner.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

Good food, excellent service. Everything tasted very fresh. I had a shrimp dish that had several vegetables in it. You could tell that the vegetables were not from a can. Was very tasty. Love the three different sauces. Tomatillo usually does not agree with me, but this one was very flavorful.

“Consistently Good!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013 via mobile

Good food, prompt service and excellent drinks. There was no wait (Monday night) and our server was friendly and prompt. The margaritas and salsa were very good and the dinners were quick to the table and piping hot. The remodeling they have done over the past few years is very nice and I would recommend going for drinks on a busy evening on the outdoor patio. Stop here for a great meal!

“Best and Freshest Mexican food to be had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Each time in Lubbock, we always stop to have a meal at Abuelo's Mexican Food Embassy. The food is the freshest and prepared daily we are told. The Chile Relenos are the best, the drinks are perfect every time and the staff, well the staff does every thing to take care of their customers.

“Great food & margaritas!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Location was close to hotel & easy to get to. Only had to wait 5 mins to be seated despite it being dinner time on a Saturday evening & restaurant was very busy. Service was prompt & friendly & food/margaritas were delicious.

Not the best Tex-Mex but always very good. Varied menu with lots of choices. Very efficient wait staff. Pleasant dining experience as always.
