Description: Real Mexican food is a feast for the senses. From colorful peppers to the sounds of sizzling fajitas all the way to that incredible flavor. Each mouthful is just as much a result of the freshest ingredients as it is a result of the chef's expertise. Abuelo's offers diners the opportunity to experience real Mexican food, combining authentic, made from scratch classic dishes with the rich, subtle flavors of coastal and interior Mexican cuisine. Our executive Chef Luis Sanchez has spent decades perfecting our menu, and we boast a wide selection of wood-grilled fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, chile rellenos or Abuelo's unique House Specialties (depending on your location). To compliment your meal, our expert bartenders are masters at crafting signature favorites, including a wide variety of margaritas and swirls. Whatever the occasion, we'll stop at nothing to make your time at Abuelo's a memorable dining experience.

“Not Drinking the Koolaid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

Good reviews from others - not me. Quick dinner of Queso Diablo and Carnitas Enchiladas. I seriously doubt there was any real cheese in the queso and it was not spicy as advertised. Even after 15 minutes (of the plate not being cleared), the "queso" was still completely liquid. Nasty/bad.

The carnitas meat was dry ... not what I have had elsewhere. The green chile salsa was simply chopped (probably canned) chiles. Servers were inept and too busy chatting among themselves. If I were an Owner working undercover, the front of the house would have been decimated.

“Not as good as remembered”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

My order was to go, on a super busy night. They apparently changed the menu & changed what is in the chimichangas, because they were spiced way too hot, plus they were filled with poblano chilies. By the time I got back to hotel to eat, maybe 15 mins later, the beans & rice were totally cold and congealed. Needlesstosay, I did not clean my plate. The only bright spot was the dulce de leche cheesecake which is still very good. Not really sure I will return, might just pass on by.

“Going down hill . . .”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

This place used to be a great place to eat. We used to eat here at least once every week. But over the past month, this place is really going down hill fast. The silverware, tables, bowls and plates have been dirty the last four times we have been here. When we tell the server, the response is the same each time, "We've been having problems with the dishwasher." But a whole month with no change is really ridiculous. Today, the queso, which we always get, taste like cleaning solution. No apologies from the staff. Really, Abuelos, please straighten up! We really miss you!

“Best Mexican Food Around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Lunch or dinner you can't miss if you are in the mood for some great tasting Mexican food. The variety is excellent and even kids love to eat here. The restaurant is almost always packed full and the wait staff are busy but very attentive. The food is superior! Every time my out of state family members visit it is usually the very first place they want to go because, "You just can't get that kind of excellent Mexican food where I'm from." We love taking them there and watching them eat until they can't stuff another tortilla chip in their mouth.
