“Sept. 7th stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

The hotel is hard to get too and is hidden behind another brand hotel so initial impression is "how could it be rate so high?". Cramped parking lot but building looks nice and reception is well kept and nice. The receptionist was busy with computer and said "just a minute" which put me off a bit. I gave him name and he found the reservation but he never acknowledged that I was a Priority Club Platinum member. Later when we were going out to eat I asked him if my priority number was there and he said yes but did nothing special for the recognition.

We stayed for one night on our way through town and booked this hotel because it was close to the expressway. We arrived late and the front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. No working ice machine while we were there, which was unfortunate. The room we booked had two bedrooms and a kitchen and was spacious but worn and in need of serious cleaning. The carpet was filthy and the toilet was stained with black. We also had to kill a 1.5 inch long cockroach in the room shortly after we got there. YUCK! Gotta love Texas... We considered moving rooms, or even hotels, but by that time we were so exhausted we ended up doing a room check and didn't find any more critters (but plenty of dirt) so we crashed and left early without even trying the breakfast

I actually went on Tripadvisor to look for a hotel in Lubbock, but when I booked Holiday Inn Express I mistakenly booked this one - instead of the one on the other side of town that is rated #1.

Good stuff first: I will add to other reviews - the front desk staff is extremely friendly. The hotel is very clean. Room was clean. Rooms have fridge and microwave. The breakfast was constantly being replenished and had a good offering.

AC unit was a little loud and bathrooms could definitely use renovations, at least in the room we were in. The towel rack was rusty as all get out. Granted we were working a wedding, so it's not like we were hanging out in our room much. We were looking forward to jumping in the hot tub (which has a total capacity of two) the morning after the wedding. . . .it was cold.

Overall, I wish I would have booked the other Holiday In Express I had intended to. This one is so-so, maybe not the best for families if you're looking to hang out in the pool area. Fine for a business trip or someone not planning to be in their room much.

Facilities are nice and rooms are clean. Staff is very friendly and efficient - especially Andy. Stay was very enjoyable. Breakfast was good and staff did a good job of keeping breakfast items restocked. If they are still remodeling, it was not noticeable.

After dropping off our son at college, we spent the night here before returning home. The staff is really friendly and more than enough reason to return, and we will. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. A few dings and dents, one light bulb out, and a little mold around the bathroom exhaust, but certainly not a deal breaker. Not having those things and I would have rated higher. Breakfast in the morning was good, with lots of choices, and plenty of it. Staff serviced the buffet regularly. More than likely this will be our regular hotel when visiting for the next four years.

The front office and room services is great. The breakfast was good but could improve. The rooms in the 1rst floor are amazing. Very clean and comfortable. You have a few stores very close to shop that are walking distance.

Room Tip: Plan a head and call the front desk for advise. This has been one of the best teams i have seen in t...
