I wanted to respond to the unfair review Jtenpennymd left for Cafe J and the brunch hostess. First of all, I was waiting in the lobby for a friend to join me and I did not arrive until around 11:15 myself, so her time table seems exaggerated. But more importantly she is leaving out the fact the she was the one to give up the table that was being held for her group and did so in such an unseemly manner that she drew the attention of most everyone in the lobby. She yelled at the hostess (or manager?) and used the f word. After saying to give her table away and yelling at the hostess, she was asked to leave. This woman also parked her vehicle under the awning of the restaurant half blocking the entrance to the restaurant. In fairness, it was raining, but this is just another example of how entitled this woman was behaving that morning. Many tables were seated in succession after she left because the hostess instructed the younger girl she was working with to move the large table that was being held for this group apart. After this woman finally left, several guests (including me) felt it necessary to apologize to the hostess for the lack of respect this woman showed her as she quickly got back to seating people who were waiting for tables.
This is a VERY busy and popular brunch place and this hostess is friendly, efficient, and seems to recognize many people by first name. Lubbock does not have many interesting characters like this and should work harder to not scare them off to bigger cities. From the many times I have been with different people, I do not believe she was the one behaving rudely to anyone. If she is a manager, I feel that she did what she should have to remove a problem guest so she could get back to seating better behaved guests for an otherwise lovely brunch. She does not deserve to be described in such an ugly and disrespectful way online.
