“Great hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We stayed at the Overton for Move in weekend at Texas Tech. Great hotel. Rooms were very nice. Great bar, friendly staff. We had the breakfast the next morning. Very good, a little slow on the service but we didn't mind too much. I would definitely stay here again!

Nice hotel but had lots of issues from the start of our trip. My spouse was supposed to be picked up from the airport and they had it written down on the wrong date. Our room window seal leaked after a storm that came thrue. The towels were left in the window seal the whole weekend. We would definetly stay here again with a little better planning.

Room Tip: You definetly want the upper floors. We stayed on the 7th floor and had a beautiful view.

I have stayed here numerous times with my family. During Red Raider Orientation, Admitted Students Day, the Black Out game, graduation, and other huge events, the Overton is the first hotel to be booked. Make sure to get a room early! The view from the upper rooms is very pretty and the rooms are always comfortable. Their breakfast buffet is expansive and delicious. The front desk is always helpful when suggesting places to go and where to eat. This is a great hotel.

I enjoyed staying at the Overton. As soon as I entered the hotel to check in the personnel were extremely polite and helpful. They made each client feel that they were important and appreciated. You can truly see in the staff's attitude that they enjoy working at the hotel. I think this speaks alot of the Overton, the hotel manager and the HR staff hiring the individuals. I was lucky and stayed in the King Suite. The room was larger than I ever expected and was layed out with the guest in mind. The Keurig coffee maker was an added bonus. Note that the mini fridge is not in the bar area, it is in the bedroom. I found it as I was checking out. Yes. parking can be a problem but the parking lot is very well lit and I felt safe walking into the hotel late at night. Valet is cheap and can be used for those not wanting to park late at night. I definetly will stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Book early since the hotel fills up quickly due to Texas Tech activities.

This hotel is very nice and clean. Beds are comfy. Very close to the university. It's priced a little more than the other hotels around, but it's worth it. The only problem we had was with parking. The hotel was booked, and we had a hard time finding a parking spot. The valet had put up orange cones in several of the parking spots so we could not use them. We had to park on the street the first night. I did ask the front desk about the orange cones, but they had no explanation.

Stayed for two nights in Aug 2012 in the Preferred King Suite on the 15th Floor. This hotel was amazing, the staff was very friendly and welcoming and also let me check out a few hours later on my last day. The Preferred King Suite on the 15th floor had awesome views of the surrounding area (Texas Tech Campus) thanks to the flat landscape in Lubbock. Really was a nice view. Also the Preferred King Suite came with access to the Preferred level Club room which serves a "lighter" option breakfast for in the morning and also had Wine & cheese for happy hour at night.

The hotel was very clean, the room was massive and had large LCD TV's in each room. They had a keurig coffee maker in the room which was nice when I was working from the room the next morning. Also received breakfast vouchers from the desk on check in and really wasn't expecting much from the breakfast buffet until the moment I saw it. I'm not a huge breakfast eater but the breakfast here was amazing! I made sure I ate breakfast both mornings while there because it was so good. MUST TRY IT!

The hotel room had wired and wireless internet access and allowed me to work from the room on both days without any kind of networking issue. This is rare, and made my stay that much more enjoyable not having to deal with Hotel IT staff.

The hotel is very close to campus and also to some of the local restaurants and bars. Couldn't get much better in my opinion. I will be staying here again next trip to Lubbock.

Room Tip: If you want a good view, Try asking for Preferred King Suite on the 15th Floor. The view was amazing...

I went to a conference and stayed at this hotel and was amazed with the quality of service! Rooms were clean and the resturant served great food. Around the corner were other great resturants to chose from. It is close to the university and easy access from the freeway.

Room Tip: My room only had a shower stall so ask if you want a bathtube.
