“A bit off the Interstate but a great place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Brand new with a staff eager to help. If you don't like driving you may want to consider somewhere else but if you want to see something other than Interstate for a while, this Best Western is a real value.

We stayed in this hotel for 10 days in order to attend the COTA Formula 1 Grand Prix. It was an easy drive to the circuit and took just over half an hour.

Our room was large with everything we needed, large refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. and an excellent 42 inch flat screen TV.

The breakfast was good with cereals, waffles, fruit, toast, juice, mini-burgers and eggs.

It was also right next to a cinema, just 2 minutes walk away, and a Huddle House restaurant right next door. We visited several of the famous Lockhart barbeques, and ate delicious ribs and beef. It was also close to Walmart, and several restaurants and fast food places. It was also very convenient for shopping at San Marcos Outlet, as well as visiting Austin and San Antonio. Staff were very helpful.

There was also a well-equipped gym, which was just as well in view of the meals we ate. We also used the Laundrette, and guest Pc. It was just a little too cool for the outdoor pool, but we often sat outside on the loungers.

We will definitely stay here next year

We had a motel in Sequin Texas (days inn) that was a real dump. So we got on the phone and to our surprise there were rooms open in the Best Western Lockhart the BBQ capital of Texas.
So we ditched our room in sequin and headed to Lockhart.
Wow what a difference. I wouldn't say it's a four star but a good 3.5 star. We had a very comfortable and quite 3 night stay there.
The bonus is there are 4 Texas BBQ places in town to try out
See my review of Blacks.

Room Tip: Just ask at front desk for what you would like there are lots of open rooms

Stayed the weekend here for a family reunion. While the rooms were a bit pricey, it was the best place to stay in Lockhart, Texas. The complimentary breakfast could use some help (waffle iron didn't seem to cook waffles through and the batter smelled a bit spoiled). The rooms were fresh and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. We needed some last minute, forgot to pack items and everything seemed to be a walk or a very short car ride away and not too crowded. Eateries were close as well with movie entertainment just next door. I did have a few other family members stay at a few other locations in Lockhart. Their experience involved getting bit by bed bugs and ants in the bathrooms. For that reason alone, I'd pay the same amount again to sleep in comfort.

We stayed here two nights while on busin in the Lockhart area. The facility itself is clean, up to date, and staffed by friendly, helpful people. The room had everything one would expect-microwave, small fridge, coffee maker. I used the gym. It is small, but did have a working weight machine, and elliptical, a treadmill and a television. The breakfast was typical, but in my opinion the coffee was more drinkable than one usually gets with the free hotel breakfast. The waffle machine makes the waffles in the shape of the state of Texas-I'm sure kids get a kick out that. The eggs are the premade disk type of eggs. Parking was ample. It is just outside the center of town along the strip shop center portion of town, so you're really only 2 to 3 min. from any of the stores available in town.

When I go there again. This is where I will stay.

Room Tip: I imagine rooms away from the highway would be quieter. We did not notice any unusual amount of nois...

I stayed at this hotel for a weekend trip to Austin. It happened to be during SXSW, so rooms in Austin itself were nearly impossible to come by. I chose this hotel as being the most convenient to Austin still available at a reasonable price, but having stayed there, I would not hesitate to choose it again. This hotel seems fairly new (inside hallways) and everything was clean and in good order. The room was spacious and had all the basic amenities--micro/fridge, coffee maker, etc. I heard no noise from the hallway or adjacent rooms and slept quite well. The location is excellent, conveniently located near a number of restaurants and stores, several within walking distance. It is an easy ~30 minute drive to Austin, and I experienced no traffic problems either coming or going. I did not get up in time to try the breakfast, and it was too early in the year for the pool, so cannot comment on either of those. In short, if you are going to the Austin area and either cannot get a room in Austin proper or simply prefer to avoid this is a good choice.
