Description: Forget 'casual dining.' That's an industry term so out of touch with how consumers eat and drink today. For premium quality and style; fare that's at times familiar and other times adventurous and a laid-back modern setting, Houlihan's is a true original.

“Decent overall, hopefully improves with experience. Need to call a plumber”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2008

Have been here twice; once in November 08 and then again at the end of Dec. First visit on a Saturday night: it was fairly crowded and the food took forever (over an hour) to come out. When it did, several of our items were cold and had to be returned. Took another 30 minutes for the new, warm items back. Mgr comped our table w/ free beers. Second visit on a Monday night: just drinks this time. Good service and no issues with a few appetizers.
**One thing we noticed both visits was the restrooms smell really bad...like raw sewage. This is surprising since this is a brand-new bldg. Must be a plumbing design issue. This is really something that needs to be fixed as my wife has decided she doesn't want to return because of the bathroom stench.
I do have hope for this retaurant, though, as it is one of very few nicer places on this side of town.

“Promsing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2008

This new Houlihan's opened in our neighborhood, which turns out to be the second in greater San Antonio. Was very impressed with the decor, and the management seemed interested in how people were doing. But this is the first time I have sent food back in a couple of years--stone cold steak and mashed potatoes. Second pass the food was good. Creme Brouillet was more pudding than custard, and hardly had a crust. Giant stuffed mushroom appetizer was good. Good wine selection, full bar, Coffee was decent.

I think they are just working out the bugs. Nice concept place--much superior feel to say, Applebees, for only a few dollars more. Might be worth a try!
