What a beautiful place! We stayed 5 nights here at Cypress Frio Waters cabins in early July...and were never bored. The cabins are very comfortable and cool(good a/c)...the beds are great!!...has a kitchenette with a stove and oven, microwave, coffee maker...and pots and pans, utensils, plates, bowls, coffee cups, etc. Bathroom was ample size...shower was excellent, it had a lot of room and the water pressure was great. No TV or internet, which is just fine for us...cant really de-stress with that kind of distraction.
We spent most of our time in the Frio, which is just outside the cabins a few yards. We swam and snorkled...hunted rocks. The water is very clear and is cold because of the huge cypress trees on both sides of river. Our little 'chiwa' loved going on walks with us exploring the river and countryside...and no we didnt see one snake!! Im kinda surprised given we were there several days...but Im not complaining. Lots of birds, butterflies, even saw lightening bugs in the evenings, it was great.
There is a small grill/firepit outside each cabin...husband was able to grill some wings and ribs without any trouble, and the campfire was great for roasting marshmallows...yum!
We also played tether ball and shot some baskets during the late afternoons. Their game equipment was maintained...just like the rest of the place!
The town of Leakey is maybe 5 or so minutes away....it has a decent grocery store...
Garner State Park isnt far either...maybe 15 minutes
Oh, do bring blankets...we thought we were supposed to bring sheets and towels only...but you will need blankets as well, they dont provide them...
We had a great time and cant wait to go back again, were thinking the fall...
The owners Theresa and David were both very nice and knowledgable of the area...check in was a breeze...not fussy with tons of rules, etc....I appreciated that.
