“wonderful and hospitable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

It is an astoundingly beautiful and serene location. The little cabins are fully stocked, luxurious, and built with character. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay- just my husband, myself, and our dog. It was relaxing and quiet. The owners were very accommodating and went out of their way to help us out. We had vehicle trouble, and we can't thank them enough for their assistance. We can't wait to come back to this lovely spot along Frio River, making a tradition out of it! Thank you!

The shaded Cypress trees that envelop this beautiful Texas property offer an overwhelming sense of tranquility. Within steps of the well maintained cabins is the Frio river which presents unending pleasure for all! My family and I have made this an annual retreat and Theresa and David, the proprietors, are openhearted and kind beyond expression. The kids and adults alike all ride their bikes, swim and float the river; we also enjoy taking our beach chairs into the shallow part of the river and just enjoy each other’s company while catching-up with one another!

The difference between this place and the myriad of other properties in the area is Cypress Frio Waters is limited to the lodgers as it resides on private property. There aren’t countless other people flocking the water. The sense of privacy is ideal.

This place getaway is absolutely, beautiful!!! My family and I just left there today. We stayed five nights, and enjoyed every second of our time here. We were sad when we left. Great place to bring your family, or if you and your loved one just want to get way alone. Our lives are so busy, so this time away was wonderful!! Thank you Theresa and David, for making us feel welcome and sharing your beautiful place with us!! We will see you again!! Sincerely, The Hesseltine Family

It is always a pleasure to see you and your family each year. When you started coming out the youngest was just a baby... now he is six! I enjoy watching and hearing your boys at the river. I can hear them squeal and giggle all the way to my house. Thank you for sharing your family with David and I. Your always welcome. Come back soon!

My husband and I just got back from our little vacation at Cypress Frio Waters, and have to say that we highly recommend this place to anybody. This was our first time staying at the cabins, and we were very happy because they provided everything we needed; they are very clean and comfortable. The cabins are very close to the Frio River where we went fishing, site seeing, and relaxing in the water. The owners are very nice and made our stay feel like if we were at home. If you want to spend time away from the city, enjoy quiet time and nature, this is the place to visit. Overall, our vacation was short, but we both stated (several times to each other) "this was a wonderful vacation". We are making plans to come back soon.

Absolutely the nicest, uncrowded section of the Frio River available for families and couples to enjoy. The river offers crystal clear water, deep pools, tumbling rapids and a smooth, flat,rock-free section. The ranch is about 3 miles north of Leakey on US 83 but truly gives you the sense that you are miles away from the crowds on the Frio at Garner State Park and Concan. The atmoshphere is truly rural, beautiful and quiet. Our cabin offered everything we needed to stay 8 days in comfortable surroundings. The cabins are clean and modern. The beds are very comfortable. The back patio is covered and looks down toward the river. There are horsehoes, volleyball, basketball and other games ready for adults and kids to play. The owners are very nice and take very good care of their property. We will be returning!

Tired of the noise and hassles of the city? This is the place for you. Only a few hours drive and you are surrounded by the "noise" of birds, breeze blowing through the trees, and the sound of the Frio River gliding by. Just driving through the gate you will feel your blood pressure drop and the tension in your neck and shoulders will be gone. The cabins are nice and clean and you can have your morning coffee sitting on the porch while watching the sun rise. I feel better just writing this review. But beware: the Frio is aptly named!

Michele -

Thank you so much for such a wonderful and I believe, accurate review. I am partial though. The Frio River is always spring feed cold and the country wildlife surroundings will make the stress melt away. Again, thank you for the kind words and we hope to see you soon!
