“Beautiful. Nicest bathroom in England”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

Farm fresh eggs, warm and welcoming owners. Ian and Jenny made our stay exceptional. Chickens are a hoot. Luxury style. Bathroom is updated but retains a warm farmhouse feel with luxury and not your grandmother's place. Beautiful lines and stunning details. Very quiet country. Highly recommend. Try the place next door for lunch or tea or beer.

Room Tip: Book this gem, breakfast was over the top! Fresh eggs f,rom the chickens in the front yard.

This was our second visit to the Old Rectory - and it will not be our last! Host Ian provides the most comfortable and homely environment in the b & b circuit! Both our room and ensuite were spacious and spotless with all those little extras that make a difference: tea and coffee making facilities - with fresh milk everyday - and essential toiletries, to name but two! Ian cooks the most delicious 'full English' with locally sourced produce and of course customises breakfast to the wishes of his guests. He is the most knowledgeable host we have ever encountered and is not only concerned that you enjoy your stay in his b & b but also that you maximise your experience of the local area. He has expert first hand knowledge of the best walking routes and the best places to visit - and he shares this knowledge with great enthusiasm! MOST definitely, book yourself a visit when visiting this beautiful part of the world!

Stayed at the Old Rectory with my wife and three children at the beginning of August. The Kildale stop was day four of our Cleveland Way adventure and I have nothing but praise for Ian and his fantastic B&B.
The location was idyllic. The room was spacious and clean and the breakfast first class. Ian was a great host with a good sense of humour. He was very accommodating and even went the extra step to drive us out to a first rate restaurant for our evening meal and to pick us up afterwards. On the morning of our departure he was kind enough to drive us up to the top of the hill where we continued our walk. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Rectory and would like to recommend it highly to anyone thinking of staying in Kildale.
Thanks very much Ian.

The rooms were spotlessley clean the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were excellent. The owners were friendly and helpful, we stabled two horses and they were very comfortable too. Breakfast was amazing I do not think you could get better anywhere. The area lends it's self to anyone who wants to go out riding or cycling or walking it is really beautiful.

What more can you want than a beautiful house, fantastic bedroom and bathroom, brilliant host and a perfect breakfast. Next time we visit Whitby, we shall be staying here and catching the train from the nearby station. This place is FAB-U-LOUS!

We had a great stay in the charming Old Rectory. Ian is a perfect host going out of his way to make your stay a pleasant one. The rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable. The ensuite shower possibly the best in the whole of the UK.

The Old Rectory has left us speechless! We stayed in the self-catered house with our dog and what a treat! Gorgeous house, gorgeous area--great for long walks (especially with a dog). Owners are warm and friendly and make you feel right at home. If you decide to come stay here, you will not be disappointed!
